WOO HOO!!!

After work tonight I will be heading to Mobile for the weekend. It's a well deserved, long awaited vacation aka fishing trip. Hoping to catch some flounder and crabs.
Ooooooo! That sounds like an awesome trip. I love, love, love crabs. The last time I had them was 3 years ago in Maryland. Looks like I'm do for some crab legs. I hope you get lots of them.

One of my literature teachers told me to write first and then  try to categorize my work. Maybe that's what the people (there's seldom just one) who wrote the play Harvey  did. Good thing the movie wasn't advertised by the morons advertising Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, or it never would have gotten off the ground.
I was once at a reading with author Patricia Wrede.  Someone asked her what the difference was between writing for children and writing for adults.  She said that she never worried about it; she just wrote the book and let her agent decide which category it fell into.  Beyond that, there were two differences:
  1. Bigger advances on her books for adults.
  2. Better cover pictures on the juvenile books.  If the cover of a child's book doesn't match what's inside (say, the heroine has the wrong color hair), children will notice it and write angry letters to the publisher, so publishers insist that cover artists actually read the book first when it's being marketed to children.

I've read more than my fair share of books where the artist should have read the book (or at least a description of the main character)! For instance, in the first edition Joe Grey books, the artist draws a black and white cat next to a grey tabby. Here's the problem: Joe Grey is a gray  cat with white markings (he's described, more than once, as mouse gray) and Dulcie (the other cat on the cover) is an orange tabby! I hope if your books get published you have enough pull to be able to make sure that the cover matches (or at least doesn't clash) with the story and its main characters!

Yesterday my cats drove me bonkers. Bashing through the screen, fighting all day, yelling at me, followed me everywhere. Today they've been sleeping all day and leaving me lonely.

Every night for about 10 minutes or so, one of my kitties, Ned, becomes ROCKET CAT!!  He takes off flying from the back of the house to the front several times while the others just watch in amazement, their fur blowing in the breeze as he passes by.  Do any of yours do that?

Pull won't do it.  Connie Willis has won more major awards, in every category, than any other S.F. author in history, yet when the first edition of Doomsday Book came out the cover picture showed Kivrin (the heroine) in a full, lightweight blue Disney princess type dress, apparently made of silk.  This was a book about time travel to a small village.  Kivrin was supposed to be a peasant, and was wearing blue homespun, not silk.  (She also had trouble in the book because her dress was too blue, but that's a separate issue).  It looked like the cover for a romance novel, not a novel about the black death.  Connie complained to the publisher, who simply didn't get her point.  After all, the artist got the color right, didn't he?

The only author I can think of with that much pull is J.K. Rowling, because she counts as a money machine for her publisher, and if she gets mad she can go to any publisher she wants and they'll be overjoyed to have her.  Then again, there's some question whether the Harry Potter books are intended for adults or children.

Ha, I call that "tornado mode" - all three of my youngin's going in circles around the house so fast they are just a blur! That is when I hold on to my coffee for dear life. Happens almost every morning.

So, so tired :sigh: Been cleaning up and putting things away.

Tornado mode!  I know I grab my drink too!  Ned is the only one who does this, and only at night about 8pm.  The rest of them look like "oh Lord here he goes again!"

Here it's three of them. Sometimes just two, but usually all three. Sara and Maple (well, just Maple now) ignore them usually, unless they feel the breeze themselves. My Lucky used to do the same thing, all the way up until last year! Obviously not as often as when he was younger, but he occasionally broke out into tornado mode himself. It was SO cool to see it happen with Lucky and the boys!

hahaha. Just as I finished reading your post, Ivy took off flying through the living room. Ran into the water bowl, spilled it, slid the rug into the food bowl, spilled it, and then ricocheted down the hall. Does that answer your question?

Well, just spit.  My doctor called earlier, and I have to go on hormone therapy.  The pharmacy is delivering the pills.  Apparently, what I thought was menopause will only be menohesitation, at least for the next six months.   I DON'T WANNA!

uh oh. Why do you have to go on hormone replacement? I'm in the midst of menopause right now. The hot flashes were driving me nuts. I would wake up every 45 minutes to an hour at night. I've been taking complete menopause mutivitamin from rainbow light. It's helped me tremendously. I only wake up once or twice now and fall right back to sleep. I also don't have to strip my clothes off during a hot flash! Lol.

Yep, that's the way it works.  You get back and either they refuse to let you go to the bathroom on your own or they give you the stink eye and cold shoulder for having "deserted" them that way.  Then they decide you can't go to the bathroom by yourself.  It's a cat thing.

Thickened endometrium.  I thought I was done with all of this years ago.  Imagine my surprise when is started all over again.  No hot flashes, so far...we shall keep hoping.  O only had three of them the first time around...but they were doozies.  I was ready to strip naked on Maine Street, I was so hot!

Years ago I went on vacation for 10 days.  TEN DAYS!!!  That sounds like a dream.  But I had to board my kitties Sam and Garf with the breeder where they were born.  I missed them terribly and worried about them every day, wondered what they were doing.  Wondered if they missed me.  Couldn't wait to see them again.  :(

When I came to pick them up....it seemed only Garfy missed me.  He looked at me and trembled and sniffed as if to say "Iz it twoo?  Iz it weally twoo???"  He got so happy to see me, which made me feel terrible!

Sammy?  Stretched and looked at me like "oh, you back from the mall already??"

lol. They can get bad. Ive been tempted to strip in the grocery store. Thankfully, so far, I've kept myself from doing just that. I live in a very small town and juse about everyone recognizes me. Well, I sure hope the hormones help you out.

Please rememer those rules everyone,  posts must have at least 15 words or more (only posting smilies / pictures doesn't exempt you from this requirement).

Doing great here though, I was so impressed with having to catch up on over 100 posts after a lazy day being given pawsages by Mouse while I rested on the new sofa.  He seems to like it there and has to trample all over me.

Actually I'm going specifically for low-carb.  My last blood work showed pre-diabetes!!  :(

That Martha Stewart recipe with almond butter sounds really interesting!!!  I think I'll give that one a try and sub honey for the sugar.  Thanks!  I never thought to look up Martha Stewart for gluten-free stuff.
Came across these low carb (7g) vegan / paleo / gluten free cookies: http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-the...ppen-to-be-paleo-vegan-and-gluten-free-230608 It has just 4 ingredients, including almond flour.

So exhausted
I was at work from just after 6am until 4pm. I'm starting my transition to a new position in a different department this week.  I spent an hour moving my desk stuff to my new desk. Supposedly that was to have been arranged for me but packing boxes never showed up
It took two trips to cart my stuff up. Then I had to cram everything into my one little cabinet. Old desk had a little cabinet plus a roomy overhead cabinet. Then it was a rush to get the morning stuff done so we could go to a training. The afternoon wasn't too bad.  I still have to clean out my locker but since I'm still working in my old position a few days next week, I'll clean it out then.
