I think he's managed to mate like 2 times with her during her pregnancy and it's absolutely infuriated me how persistent he is and how unable he is to take a hint to back off even when seperating them. All I'm asking you guys is to put my mind at ease. This won't affect her pregnancy right? Whenever one of our females are pregnant it stresses me out a ton. Thanks.

First, this is not your male cat's fault. He is entirely driven by hormones. He should be neutered and not allowed to breed with your female cats recklessly. He is doing the only thing his body is telling him to do; he is not comfortable and not happy.

Second, this is not healthy for your female cat. She doesn't need the stress during her pregnancy, but it is also possible for her to conceive kittens at different dates. These kittens may be delivered early and unhealthy. How many litters has she had? How old is she?

This is, unfortunately, what happens when you have intact cats of both genders living in your home.

I was responding to you saying it's infuriating that he's so persistent and won't take a hint even though you separate them. It sounds like you think he has some control over his actions.

whether you think that or not is pretty irrelevant. I asked a question regarding my female. All I'm asking is for answers. No need to victimize the well fed, spoiled male cat. Really don't want to argue.

I am not trying to argue with you. I responded to the content of your original post and made points about both of your cats.

Your male is not a victim, but it is up to you to keep them separate becuase he has no control over his hormones. You should consider fixing him now because he will still be fertile for up to a month after the surgery.

And, yes, this is not healthy for your female's pregnancy. I reviewed your other thread about having some premature kittens not make it in the last litter and you should be prepared to supplement again.

Long answer short, yes this can affect her pregnancy. I'm surpriced he jumps her tho, as pregnant females shouldnt trigger his hormones like this. Are you sure she is pregnant, and it so, how far along is she?

Also if she is, your male is probably extremely frustrated (hormones do that to a male), and I would suggest either getting him fixed or, if you are a breeder and he's part of your program, to arrange him more girls to keep him satisfied or a friend to give him attention. I'm not saying 1 girl a day, but for us we want at least 3 females per male, preferred more due to the possible frustration. A friend (helped) also seems to help males get less frustrated, specially when he is seperated from all other cats and you.

Dangers to your female are infections (can be lethal), premature born kittens, natural abortion (body no longer accepts the kittens), stress inflicted illnesses/problems and possible other things.

oh she's definitely pregnant lol. Her stomach is big. She should be due next week or so. I'm not TOO worried because of how late she is in the pregnancy but caution is never a bad thing.

I will hope for a good birth ^^ it's best to keep them seperate until birth and also after for the kittens and her safety. Infection can also happen after birth, you do not want to risk her health and the kittens with it. Also, kittens don't do well premature, even if it's just a week, it can still happen and they most likely won't survive. The closer to birth, the more this can start the labor process. Don't take the problem too lighty.

That's great. Are you able to keep your male away from them and get him neutered?

It would also be great if you could weigh the babies every day and make sure they're all well. And post photos!
