Cat Limping

My kitty, Dolly, started limping last Wednesday and as soon as I saw it I was afraid she had a broken leg.  I rushed her to the vet and they did x-rays on both front legs so they could compare the bone structure but there was no break.  They checked her thoroughly and said there were no bites or cuts or anything wrong with her paw.

The limp is in her right front paw.  It looks like the paw doesn't work anymore.  The vet said perhaps it was a sprain or it could be neurologic.

They gave her an injection of antibiotics to be safe and an injection of anti-inflammatory.  They also gave her some pain medication and told me to monitor her and if she is no better to bring her back this Wednesday.

She still isn't any better and it looks like that paw doesn't work anymore.  I am so worried about her.  Has anyone else seen anything like this?  By the way they did blood tests and everything came back fine.

She does have thyroid disease which she gets medicine for twice a day and seems to be doing fine with that.

This is very odd...I don't recall ever hearing anything quite like this before where there is only one paw involved, and particular a front paw
.  But if her paw doesn't work anymore, I wouldn't think she'd be limping, I'd think she'd just be holding it up and walking on 3 legs (that's just MY thoughts on the matter)  It almost sounds like she's got a splinter or some piece of glass or something deep inside that can't be seen.  Maybe when you take her back on Wednesday they can examine her foot much more closely to try to detect something like that.

Thanks I will have them check it more closely but they told me they had checked all the pads and carefully went up her leg.  It is hard to describe how she walks.  She puts it on the ground but instead of the paw holding her up it bends so she is almost walking on the leg part that attaches to the paw, that is why I thought it was broken.  When she sits she holds her right paw up.  She can't use it to wash either as it won't work for her.

It makes me want to cry.  I can't even imagine why it is like that.

Hmmm, in that case, sounds like something possibly with a ligament or tendon or something.  Since she isn't any better, I'm guessing your Vet will have more ideas on Wednesday.
