Hi, I'm new here, though I've been reading so much in this page. The advise I read here has been way more precious than my vets!!!

My female cat has become a mom 2 wks ago exactly. She had to have emergency c-section. Only 2 out of 4 babies survived.
She managed to nurse them with the colostrum :) but on her 2nd day she started struggling with serious pain while nursing. I had to start feeding the babies with Royal canin formula. Did it for only 3 days, after which mom was able to nurse well full time :)

Babies only pooped without human help on their 4/5th day of life. Ever since it has been a problem! They are seriously bloated! Took them to vet, which gave them paraffin enema. Didn't work quite well. Day after vet again, started Lactulose 0.1ml twice dat orally. No luck after 48h... Vet again! Lactulose enema this time which worked for both babies... Carried on the twice a day oral Lactulose... 2 days later no poop again... Keeping ever bloated and the baby boy had pain while I was doing the stims... Vet again... Lactulose enema again... Had a good poop. 2 days later no poop other enema and only a massive big pressurised fart! Poor little boy! He hasn't popped for 4 days and only lets wind out now and then.
His tummy is starting to get hard again :( he had enema yesterday and no poop
Just gave him another enema and only a tiny fart came out

Need to mention I do clean their bottoms 4-5times a day, massage their bellies to help move the trapped wind...

These babies eat like mad! Absolute gluttons! Despite momma cat leaves the nest and lays down next to it. Any opportunity they squeeze her boobs in seconds!

I try to put them to burp and stim their bottoms before and after feeds as much I can (4-5x day)

I have started giving them boiled lukewarm water to help moist the poop and make them feel more full in order to nurse less (all vet advice)

I've asked vet if I can give them dimeticone or simeticone (baby stuff over the counter for wind) and he said not to give them and bring them in for enema instead!

I told the vet that the Lactulose is what is giving them the wind, as is a very common side effect of it. He said its true but keep giving it orally and also give it as enema as needed to help them poop...

Can kittens over nurse!???
Can I do anything about it!??
Can I give infacol or dentinox (simeticone/dimeticone) to the babies!?

Please help me, I don't want to lose these precious babies. Tkx a lot

Forgot to mention that the girl was born with 71g and the boy with 90g.
14 days old today and they are 268g for the girl and 310g for the boy!
They are 3wks old kittens weight!!!
They are very clever and starting to want play with front paws and try to bite my finger. They move around the nest quite a lot, so they actually do some exercise which should be helping their belly...

Hi and welcome. No, kittens can't over nurse. These sound like big kittens who are taking advantage of being part of a small litter, but not unhealthy.

You can give them simeticone, a few drops. You can also give them a few drops of olive oil to make them poop easily. I think I would stop with the lactulose and the enemas - they don't seem to be helping. Does mom stimulate them to go? You technically shouldn't need to be assisting, though it sounds like you've needed to step in. No kitten can go without stimulation from mom or another source for its first three or so weeks.

You could also use a sliver of a glycerine suppository.

Was mom spayed during the C-section?

Good you give them some extra water, to be sure its not constipation because of some dehydration.

You could add a couple of drops of coldpressed olive oil.  Even if they usually eat from mom, but you will surely find some way.  Perhaps a diluted kmr as you used.

Also,  a drop or two of simeticone, the same as for human babies, doesnt hurt and may help - not for the constipation as such, but for the gases and bloating.

there is alos the trick of stimulating them in warm water - had you heard about it?  I will write more in the evening if need be.

This written as addition to the other advices already given.

Hi. Many thanks for your replies. Really helpful and appreciated.

The father has been neutered. The vet who did the c section said she doesn't like doing the spay same time of c section to avoid more risks of complications! She's booked to go for spay in 6 wks time.

I have heard of the stims under running warm water tap. Keep trying to find a video in YouTube to know exactely what to do, but couldn't find it.

Momma does lots of stims! She's a very proud mom with her babies cleaning for sure.

The boy just pooped, after the Lactulose enema been acting for an hour and half while I distracted momma with some play time :)

I will deffo stop the Lactulose. That's what I wanted to have done, but vet yesterday said to not to!!!

I will go buy some simeticone drops now, and give them just as I wanted to have started yesterday.

And will keep in mind the glycerine suppository in mind just in case.

If anyone could send me a link of how to stim babies under tap water would be good, though I rather leave momma to this job as much as possible.

I only intervene if their belly starts going hard.
He purrs all times I massage his belly. And is ever so funny when he purrs right after a fart or poop! Bless him, he was so bad. His belly now feels soft again! :)

Btw, these cats are not supposed to be too big though! Both parents are British short hair: a female black tip (3.4kg) and a male blue silver smoky (5kg)
The father was 420g at 6 weeks! I never expected his babies to be this big :)
