Bright red blood spots three days after cat gave birth! Help!

Hi everyone
I'm very worried about my cat she just recently delivered four kittens three days ago on the 16th around 11 PM and stopped at about 2 to 3 am... over the course of her pregnancy we always noticed how BIG she was and we're surprised to find she gave birth to only four kittens we were all expecting at least six.

Just a few minutes ago she sat down on my bed and started licking herself and when she got up I noticed some bright red spots of blood on my blanket.

She has not been acting abnormal she has been eating and drinking regularly as well as attending to her kittens frequently. Could this be a retained placenta or something else?

It is not uncommon for a momma cat to spot for a few days after delivery.

Unless it increases in volume, you notice an unpleasant smell, or her behavior changes and her appetite changes, her care for her babies, or anything else abnormal in her, it will pass soon.

It's the same as post birth in humans, they do bleed while their body is recovering, like a period. Cats just clean themselves so it's not noticed so much.
