Bertha here. I'm glad to have found this site. Wish I'd found it years ago.

I've done a lot in the cat world, but solo. I did TNR on my little parcel of land for many years. I fostered a few litters - and made a lifelong pet of one of those feral mamas. I had my time as a crazy cat lady, having had at one point 13 adult cats, each individual an adored pet.

Now I have two cats, but they're on the other side of the country. Charley Girl and Rat Face have been gone for a month, and it'll be another two months before I can join them. It's rough.

You might not see me often, but I'll be around.

Here's my sweet Charley.  She's eleven years old.  She spent her first couple of years indoors, until one day she didn't come in at night, and we didn't see her for years.  We figured she was gone forever.  Then one day she showed up.  She was feral.  But she meowed her recognition.  She walked around me, rubbing my ankles and hissing.  I put food out for her until she disappeared again a few days later.  She continued these brief appearances for a few years.  Then came the Snowpocalypse of 2010, when she decided she'd had enough.  She wouldn't come into the house, so I made her a home on the enclosed front porch.  She had all she needed to be warm and comfortable.  I went out several times a day to spend time with her.  Eventually she got into my lap and stayed.  Before long she was a house cat again.  She's a bigger part of my heart than any other cat (except for Harry - see my profile pic).

I'll see her and Rat Face in May, when I go home to California for good.

This is Charley (background) and Harry.

Here's just Charley Girl.
