good afternoon!

a simple question, for today's Question of the Day --

What is some thing(s) that makes you happy?

i'll start!

for me, the things that make me the most happy are 'the little things'. the sunny morning
we had here today made me very happy, as did knowing that the cats and my needs are being met. seeing our jaspurr and the girls enjoying their meals, and playing happily together, also makes me very happy.

how about you?

I'm with you...it is the little things.  I get silly over stuff like bees in the flowers, a sparrow on a tree branch, that squirrel that drives Hekitty nuts, a good book, a sweet movie.  Songs from my teen years.  A cup of Earl Grey on a cold morning.

Snuggling with the cats and dogs, Collie being excited to see me (and her giant pony cuddles), Collie really trying for me when I work with her, Pixie doing his doggy purrs when I get into bed with him at night, my friends here on TCS....again, little things are what count the most to me

  • Circe being my sleep-time cuddle bug.  Circe is my oldest cat (6.5 years when I adopted her, now she's 8yo), and she's the only one of the (now) five who lives to snuggle up right next to me when I go to sleep (including naps).  There's just something about drifting off to sleep with someone purring next to you.
  • Spending time with each cat individually.   The personalities are so unique, so everyone needs their own snuggle time
  • Warm sunny days

Snuggling with my family and my cats. Back rubs from my husband. Good food & a warm bed make me happiest.

Of course the kitties

Long walks and sleeping in when it is raining.

I went through a time when I was divorced and had small children.  I did the juggling thing so no bills got too far behind.  That was many years ago but it still makes me happy when I get all the monthly bills paid and everything is up to date.

When I get into a warm bed at night. I've got Mollipop under my left arm and she's purring away. I've got Muffin under my right arm and she's purring away. (When Muffin had cystitis, we were putting her in the bathroom at night and when we weren't home. For a few nights, she seemed content in her buggy in the bathroom, but I missed her terribly. Once she got over the peeing/spraying, she started coming back out at night and the first night she was in "her place" in bed, it just warmed my heart. Rick even came into the bedroom, saw the three of us sleeping together and heard the purring duet, and he said he had to smile. Even in my sleep, I looked content.)

Sleeping with Rick and the cats. Just knowing that he's lying there makes me happy (the snoring.....not so much
)

Sitting in the living room in the middle of the night and watching the lightning from a rip-roaring, thunder-crashing t-storm. Our son and I used to sit up to watch the lightning. We'd go outside and sit on the deck until the storm got close enough for us to have the rain, then we'd go inside. Watching the Persid meteor shower in August. We've seen some outstanding meteors!

Roller coasters. Wooden coasters, steel coasters, stand-up coasters, inverted coasters, cork-screw coasters. They are all simply awesome. They kill my back every time I go on one, but I wouldn't miss a ride for anything.

Working in the gardens. Kneepads, gloves, hat and all.

Mowing the yard. I put my hair back in a ponytail, throw on my baseball cap. I've got my iPod and my earbuds and good music and I just get on the tractor and go.

Smoking an all-day beef brisket or a pork shoulder in the grill. mmmmmmm The anticipation  of that first bite is wonderful.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
Good question..

Smells of a steak cooking on the grill. and putting that steak ontop of a bed of rice=true beef rice!  The crunch of a red grape in the hot summer.

Sweet taste of corn on the cob with butter and salt. Fresh brownies. Fresh salted french fries and good cooked General Taoes Chicken. good food makes me happy.

My cats when they snuggle..Honeybee often climbs on me and sleeps on my chest. Pumpy is a love bug but not a lap cat. She always loves pets and purrs for hours. FLoeys purr-she purrs super loud. Love them laying with me. Honeybee sleeps ontop of my boyfriend during the day and love seeing her curled up on his chest when come home.

Watching them run around like nuts in the house or my backyard. Floey used to climb trees and only got up a few feet. then turn around and run back down. They like to walk with me into the woods behind my house. I trained them to stay with me. They love looking around at all the things and Honeybee loves chasing bugs. or falling leaves..she will watch for hours the leaves blowing in the wind..I like when she jumps up in the air to snap a bug or leaf in her paws.

Spring/Summer/Fall plants/flowers. The feel and smell of good soil. Love trimming away the dead stuff in the spring to see new growth poking up. And going to library plant sales every spring to find those unusal native plants that you dont find in the greenhouses. The satisfaction of growing something that everyone told me would fail. Taking photos of the flowers/bees/bugs etc that are part of gardening.

Motorcycle ride in the backroads looking at others yards and foilage. Walks in the woods in any season. Winter is the best-everything is frozen and you cant step in mud. Plus the snow makes things so pretty..skiing down an easy green trail away from the zooming of kids-looking at the pretty foilage and streams or just the view from the top of the mountain. Crisp wind that makes me thankful for the warm summer sun. Bike rides too.. car rides..riding my lawn tractor..anything that goes I am pretty much happy.

Reading a good book and staying up late to continue. I love a good drama/suspense movie. Good music coming from good quality speakers.

I love sitting on my screened porch in my rocker. Beside me is a glass of sweet tea. In my lap is my cat. Life is good.
