I think soSophie is pregnant but don't know for sure.

Sophie is about 9 months old. She went into her first heat about a month ago and got outside once in that time (3 weeks ago tomorrow). She got out when I was leaving the house and I was in a rush and and ankle brace and couldn't get back in the house. I left the porch door open a crack for her to come in while I was gone. When I got home, I found her inside with a tuxedo tom.
Her only symptoms thus far is she's hungrier than usual and her heat stopped the day after she got out.
My vet offered to have her spayed now but I didn't feel comfortable with that. I have no problem taking on the responsibility of the kittens until they find homes and she will be spayed once she is able.
I asked my vet for care tips and he basically said she'll be fine. I asked if she needs to see him and he said no.

This has left me with the responsibilty of my beautiful queen and zero guidance whatsoever.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed!

The average gestational time for cats is 65 days so you still have plenty of time to get ready.  When the time comes, we have a lot of very experienced members who will help answer your questions and guide you through the process.  For now, you can get a lot of information from reading the articles at the top of this forum.  You might want to start with these:

Good luck!  This is what happens when girls bring their boyfriends home when Mom isn't home.

Thank you!

I feel like Sophie is just a baby herself!

I want to give her the best care I can during her pregnacy and after...seeing as this will be her only one.

Also, based on my calculations, she would be due the last week of april. The same week that I will be having 10 people in my 3 bedroom house!

Gotta remember to breathe!!!

If she is pregnant you should notice a difference in her nipples on day 21.  they will pinken up and be a little more defined.

Congratulations! You're going to be a grandparent.
Thank you :)

Even though this was an accident, I am actually excited for the kittens!

I just want to make sure my queen gets everything she needs in the process...

She's a cutie!  the kittens will be gorgeous.

Keep feeding her kitten food, wet and dry.  Let her have as much as she wants.

Sophie is a real cutie!  I agree with Handsome Kitty - you are going to have some beautiful kittens in a few weeks!

Thank you all!

Is it normal for the daddy car to be almost stalking her?

He sits on my front porch all day just starting in the window.

It doesn't seem to bother her much...

Is he a stray? Is there any way you can help to get him neutered?

Do you know if Dad has a home?  He probably does want to play with her, but he may also want a home, especially if he was dumped.  If he's homeless, you would be doing him and everyone else a real favor by having him neutered.   This is probably the last thing you want to think about with everything else going on so I hope you don't mind that I mentioned it.

I live in Israel and imagine cats as our sqirrels. There may very well be more stays than people here.

Sophie was a stray that was abandoned by her mother. I found her at about 6 weeks old but have no idea how much longer she was without her momma.

I do feel bad for him as he sees her food and water from where he sits but I don't think he would take well to human interaction. I don't think I could get him into the carrying case to take him to the clinic to get spayed.

They make humane traps. The issue is that his health is threatened every time he gets into a fight over territory. He is also contributing to the stray population. It's a sad cycle.

It is a sad cycle but with the amount of strays per person in this country getting one neutered sadly won't help anything.

Also, I'll probably catch 30 other cats before I get him.

The problem is so severe that you have to check under you car before you get in. And when you go to throw out the trash, 3 cats come jumping out of the bin.

I don't think I've ever gone from my house to my car without seeing at least one stray.

I don't know about that. You have to start somewhere, and you would be making a world of difference for each cat you can help. In addition, you would be helping in a small way in preventing the stray problem.

I  understand what you're saying about so many strays and you have already taken in one.  You're about to have kittens to deal with as well, plus lots of houseguests.  You know how much you can handle.  Still, just in case you think neutering one cat doesn't help much,  I'm going to borrow this from Catwoman707, one of our advisors.  It's a quote next to her avatar.

"Saving one cat won't make a difference in the world, but it makes a world of difference to that one cat."

I know it would help him a lot to be fixed. And maybe when things are a bit more settled I will be able to help him too.

But sophie did not consult me about this pregnancy and not only will I have a full house when she is due, my son is having surgery in the beginning of april and I need to be conscious of money to help the people and animals that are mine before I can start trying to save the world.

I do want to help him. I'm just not in a place to do it today. :(

Of course! You can only do what you can handle. I just wanted to know that whatever you can do does make a difference. Just look at Sophia!
