Not too badly. Midna is still moving about a bit. I think number 5 may be on its way though she has settled again whilst I am typing this......no definitely more contractions. I've put a rice sock in the birthing box to generate some more heat. She has settled again....

Number 5 is really tiny - just 55g - quite energetic. I do hope they survive. Bless them all.

Yup, she has a lot of them, that's why they are small.  But it's easier on her if they are not fat like Moonpie's babies were.  She screamed with the birth of each of them, and she was an experienced mama too.  They were big boned and big bodied.  I didn't weigh them, no need, they were obviously chubbies and they ate like piglets.

That's really small - dangerously so. You'll need to weigh them all twice a day for awhile, so you can begin supplementing immediately if necessary.

Mmm. Really worrying. KMR is due to be delivered in the morning. When should I intervene? Should I just supplement the tiny one anyway?

That's what I'm thinking. I've just asked @catwoman707 for her opinion as to whether to supplement now or wait. I'm thinking now. And possibly all of them.

You can make a glop with evaporated milk, an egg, salt, sugar, plain yogurt. Do you have these ingredients?

I've no evaporated milk - though I could go to the 24hr store and get it all. I have kitten milk but from 6 weeks on....

Oh, for tonight you can use the kitten milk that you have on hand. Do you know how to feed a kitten?

I'm going out to get the ingredients for the glop. I think she may still have one more kitten. My daughter is sitting with them. Thank goodness - the 24hr place is only a 5 min drive away

Ok. Let me know if you need specific instructions for feeding.

Glop recipe:

12 oz can evaporated milk
12 oz boiled & cooled water
2 tablespoons of honey, or sugar, or corn syrup
2 tablespoons of plain yogurt
2 tablesppons of mayonnaise
1 egg yolk beaten first
Sprinkle of salt

Mix all ingredients together. Store in refrigerator. Can be frozen in ice cube trays. May separate in fridge but will mix again. Will keep in very cold fridge 5 days.

Feed kitten tummy down, head up. Never on the back. One drop in the side of the mouth at a time. Let kitten swallow, breathe, and go again. Very slow so it does get into lungs.

Amount: 1/2 to 1 mL every 2 hours if nursing. If not nursing, then every hour.

The fighting for nipples is normal - and good! It shows they are not so weak they can't fight. This settles in a couple of days as they claim "their" nipple. With 5 or more there is almost always a runt getting pushed off.

It's best to supplement them now before they get in trouble. At this tiny size they can go downhill quickly.

Keep feeding and weight records.

The two that weren't getting much gobbled down the glop. the preferred licking it from my finger. The others that were feeding well were not interested.

That was quick! Did they get their fill? Perhaps 1 mL? I would continue feeding those two for sure then, keeping an eye on the rest. You might want to offer mama kitty a dish of wet food that she can eat at the nest without getting up.

Did you already have a glop recipe on hand?

Just googled it once you suggested it. All kittens are back with mum and are content. No squeaking anymore. Time for a nap - its 2.25am here.

Thank you so much for your help. x

You are quite welcome! Do get some rest, and let us know the weights in the morning, and how the supplementing is going. Pictures of the litter when you can. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
