No we all now that the belly is very sensitive spot for a cat. Non-owners don't see to get that, I had a friends who would always said 'I tried to tickle his tummy and he tried to bite my hand off', to which I would always reply, 'well he's not a dog', after this she always went off in a huff because she had no understanding of animals whatsoever. My MIL who used to bred cats told me that if a cats lets you touch their belly its a sign of complete trust which is nice, but i think in some cases cats just don't like it. Frank after a while would let me stoke his belly but only me and it was only after few years of living with us, Max never let anyone touch his belly even me, we'd be lying in bed and i'd stroke his back or his head, he even let me stoke his paws, but if i even strayed too close this belly the claws would come out. Do any of your cats let you touch there belly do you think it is soley a trust thing?

Hecate likes belly rubs. She gets this look on her face like, "I don't know if I should like this... But I think I do..." But she does bed for them.

Both Chula and Paul love to have their bellies rubbed and always have, but I've had cats who only allowed a brief touch before the claws came out.   The only way to find out is through experience, unfortunately!

Robin not only likes belly rubs, he likes it if I massage it a little, kinda the way mama cats massage kitten bellies with their tongue. Ha! Not that I'm licking. [emoji]128541[/emoji][emoji]128540[/emoji]

Lucien doesn't like belly rubs (I get warning bites and kicks if I try), but Luke LOVES them. I might be the only one who's allowed to do it though. No one else has tried.

Cassie LOVES it! I can rub her belly for hours. (I don't, but just sayin', lol)

Monet tolerates it for a bit, then he swats me away

Felix tolerates it for a bit, but after a while he'll give a warning 'lunge' to tell you he's had enough. Sometimes I can't resist that big soft belly. :catguy:

Henry will let me pet his belly a bit if he comes over for cuddles but he's usually standing. The girls will flop over in front of me when I'm walking and show the bellies. I give them a little tickle and tell them how cute those bellies are but I don't overstay my welcome

Archie enjoys the occasional belly rub.  Sometimes he will flop over to entice me to stroke his extra soft tummy fur.  Lucy, on the other hand, says hell no to the belly rub.  It's undignified, you know.

It took Diamond years before I could rub his belly without the claws coming out.  He likes it now.  I think he got jealous of the attention Boris gets when I rub his belly.

Boris is the belly rub king.  When he was newly arrived, one of the first things he did is let me rub his belly, hours after he got here.  I don't think he really trusted me yet.  He just loves having his belly rubbed!  He will run ahead of me, stop, roll over on his back and chirp.  That is belly rubbing time.  He will roll back and forth as I rub his belly and will put up with it until I am ready to quit.  I can rub my face on his belly, which he's not as secure with.  He watches me, ready to take off if I act inappropriately!

The new kitty, Sammy, will roll over on his back, but he will scratch if I rub his belly.  He's such an affectionate little guy that I feel belly rubs are in the future.

I didn't know you got a new kitty. Sorry. I must have missed the thread. Would you tell me about it?

Oops and Rocky both love to have their bellies rubbed. Oops sleeps on my chest and we'll fall asleep with my hand on her belly where I was rubbing it. Stash often likes belly rubs but if he's feeling playful, he'll start kicking.

Our old cat (Oops the first) would tear my husband up when he touched his belly but I could pick him up, flip him over and blow his belly and he loved it. They're so funny.

I think Thirteen, my female tuxedo who just turned a year old, agrees with your Lucy. Atticus, however--my male grey tabby who's not quite a year old--well, he definitely has more of an Archie mindset. Atticus would lie there all day if I rubbed his tummy.  Thirteen will tolerate it every once in a while but not for long.

Perhaps it's a guy thing?

Incidentally, your photographs of Archie are absolutely beautiful!  He's a handsome fellow, that's for sure, but you do a great job of capturing him in your photography.

Really nicely done.

One loves it, if I touch my other cat's belly it's instant death.

Thank you so much.  You've made Archie smile.

Tempura started letting me rub her belly recently. I like to take it as a sign of growing trust? I adopted her 5 months ago and she would nail me with her teeth the minute I touched her belly. I don't try for very long but she's perfectly content, flopped over on her back purring away.
