Ideas for Cat Community Rooms

So my volunteer friends and me have gotten the task to design and furnish several community rooms in our new (near future!) shelter. While I have found tons of cool cat things on the interweb, I am now looking into furniture that makes it inviting for visitors to hang out with the cats, and is easy to clean and to sanitize. So no couch, but maybe a comfy bench that doubles as a litter box cover or storage? Who has ideas? Photos welcome!

You could build benches with washable cushions for comfort. Maybe incorporate cat trees on the corners. Not sure about the litter boxes. I have heard covered litter boxes intimidate many cats and I would imagine being in the shelter would be intimidating enough.

Maybe a toy station where visitors can grab a wand toy or laser pointer.

Looking forward to hearing about other ideas.
