In fact, start looking for the mucus plug, because she may have just started the first stage! I'm so excited!

Wait, I can't get too excited here now. I don't want to put you in a panic or a rush. The first stage can last up to 24 hours. I always forget that and get over enthusiastic! [emoji]128568[/emoji]

She is laboring. The purring is to comfort herself through the pain of the contractions.

Yes, I think she is having Stage One contractions right now. This is the stage that can last 24 hours. The second stage is pushing.

Yep. Like Sarthur2 stated, it's very likely it's nervous purring. It may sound weird, bit cats in pain or extreme fear can pur to sooth themselves.

Stage one: Precontactions, heavy breathing, purring, pacing, nest packing, loud meowing, constantly tossing and turning.

Stage two: full contractions, pushing, birthing.

Stage three: delivering after birth, including placentas, cleaning.

I can't believe I'm still awake. I had to check in on you in case someone else wasn't here to respond. Hopefully the late nighters and those of other time zones will be around if she starts delivery tonight! I'm excited! [emoji]128571[/emoji]

Tybalt woke me up from a dream about kittens with his kitten meow. He knows that mew always gets me out if bed!

I hope everyone is doing well! I hardly slept thinking about you! You are probably a worrywart like me, especially if you're counting her breaths! [emoji]128569[/emoji] (No meanness intended. [emoji]128151[/emoji])

Was there liquid around the balls? What color was it? Consistency? Was it similar in shape or color to something she ate?

I agree with the vet. It certainly can, especially if the kittens are making her very heavy. This is why soft, wet food is always best, as well as kitten food and KMR. I hope momma is doing well now!

We've been feeding her purena kitten chow with kmr and every other day she gets 2 cans of wet food cause that's what we always have done so we're trying to keep her diet as regular as possible mommawolf mommawolf

She will need to eat more as she gets bigger and she will eat a lot when she is nursing.  Can you give her more wet food?
