I have three cats, two girls seven years old (both healthy) and a 10-month-old male, Luka.  He's very healthy also but his stool is not firm and light colored.  He's had a negative fecal test at the vet when he had mild conjunctivitis. What's a good natural food I can feed him?  Right now he's eating Max Cat dry food and Fancy Feast grilled.

Would boiled chicken and rice be good?  Can I get a fiber supplement to put in his food that doesn't have any taste - maybe mix it in his wet food?

Thanks for any advice!  It's not runny diarrhea, just soft stool.

My guess is that the food you're feeding is too rich for his system at his age.  You can try adding about a teaspoon of plain canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling) to his diet twice a day and see if that helps.  Honestly, I'd work to change his diet and see if that helps.  You also need to talk with the vet and see if they will give you something to help firm up his stool.

If you're going to feed him Fancy Feast, I would suggest feeding him the CLASSICS vs GRILLED.  CLASSICS don't have any fillers, etc.  In other words, they are low carb, which is what cats need.  The GRILLED have ingredients that many cats are allergic to (wheat, corn, soy), which can cause digestive issues.

Unfortunately, that's the only kind of Fancy Feast he'll eat.  I've tried the others and he just walks away.  He will eat Sheba cuts but like the grilled FF the best.  He turns his nose up at the Sheba pate.  Very picky boy!

I have another question about dry food.  I leave out free choice Max Cat salmon for all three of my cats.  One of my 7 year old girls tends to binge eat, very fast and then ends up vomiting the undigested dry food because she "stuffed" herself quickly.  Any suggestions on that?

Thanks so much!  Great site you have here!

Have you tried anything like Canidae or some of the other grain free options?

The Sheba cuts are much better than the FF grills, etc., if he'll eat them.  Better yet are the Nutro NATURAL CHOICE canned food choices, but they're a lot pricier.

As far as your gorger, you can try raising her bowl, using a plate versus a bowl, putting a clean golf ball in her bowl so she has to eat around it to slow her down, or feed her in smaller portions more frequently rather than free feeding.
