I will not put strings around their neck.  I was bit nervous about putting ribbons around their necks at this age.  Is it ok to put a sharpie on a back paw?
You can use some dye on their nails, just be sure its food grade or at least, non poisonous.  Be sure you renew it now and then when needed.  It may be enough with one nail.   So you can use same dye if so is, but in different postions.

Sorry, Im not sure what a sharpie is.

Sharpie is a brand of writing utensils most famous for permanent marker pens

Tx for the explanation! Yes, if this sharpie is supposed to be non toxic - after all, many people do put their pens in the mouth - so you can surely use it.

The kittens themselves probably wont touch it, but the mom is washing them daily... :)

I don't think I'd use a Sharpie. This is what I found on their website regarding whether they can be used on dishware. They said not to use them on anything that will come in contact with the mouth so I don't think that momma cat should be grooming it off the kits.

Can I use Sharpie markers for mark on ceramic dishware?Back To top

While Sharpie markers are AP-certified non-toxic, we do not recommend using them on areas of items that may come in contact with food or the mouth (such as the rim of a coffee cup). Sharpie markers are only recommended for use on ceramic or glassware when the product is being used for decorative or display purposes and not intended to come in contact with food or the mouth. If you intend to design a mug or a cupusing Sharpie markers and then use the mug or cup, any such designs must be at least one inch below the rim where a person's lips could touch.

I've heard of people using nail polish on puppy claws, but I'm not sure if that would work on a kitten. Trusting claws and all. :lol3: I think Sharpie would probably be okay? I'd be a little bit worried about mama washing them.
When my parents got their first kitten, she was almost identical to one of her littermates. They had little paper collars - one orange, one green. Those might be safer than a string, they'd probably tear/break off if they got caught on something. :)

I read this also. I wonder if craolya washable markers would be a better option. They are non toxic.

My bad, Siters. I did not think the idea of ribbons around their necks thoroughly. I was taught to do that when I was a kid and I guess old habits die hard.

Mimi certainly grooms them a lot!  A spot on the foot though may not get the cleaning attention like the rest of the body.  (Haven't see her clean feet.)

The calico or the tabby? The dark calico is bossy. It squabbles more than the others.

My eyes immediately go to the calico- left front. gorgeous coloring. I'm guess that that' the bossy one?
Yes that's the bossy calico.

The pic may distort the size a bit....I don't know the sexes yet.  I was going to wait to sex them til they got bigger.
