I guess I uploaded the wrong photo! The black and white one is Scout, the white one is my beloved Harry who's no longer with me; both are rescues!

Well six years ago, I rescued my first cat, Mimi - a Mackerel Tabby.  It was one of the coldest winters in Florida and she was hanging out at my church.  Every  time I went to church she would come to my side of the car and meow - imagine with all the people there!  We bought her some food and started to feed her. I spent nights praying for her and telling the Lord I wanted her!  Eventually, the church secretary trapped her for me.  The rest is history!

Then came Tiger a couple of years after!  I would be reading and hear a kitten meowing, morning after morning.  My husband and my neighbor tried to get the tiny thing but to no avail.  Finally, one morning she was in my backyard and I finally got her!  She's a Calico Tabby.  Every one asks why did I name her Tiger - I say because she's a tomboy!

Then after that,  a mama Tabby with her two kittens appeared in my backyard! I started to feed them and get them little by little closer to the back door.  It took forever!  I finally trapped them and had them spayed and neutered.  I released them after their operations and one day a couple of months later I stepped outside and they were all there!  Only Mama was really friendly back then.  I built a catio for them and now they're safe and sound!  Their names are Mama, Tommy and Baby.

Last of all, my mother passed away and left behind her Maine Coon, Henry!  I haven't decided whether I'm fostering him or adopting him permanently.  My brother wants him!

That's my story in a nutshell.  I could write a book about my kitties!

Thank you for letting me share.

I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. Your cats are very fortunate to have such a caring person like you in their lives. Best wishes to you!

Welcome to TCS! Your kitties sound lovely and if you like to write about them, you have certainly come to the right place.[emoji]128077[/emoji]. I'm sorry to hear about your mother - that's very hard. Thank heavens you were able to take in Henry. [emoji]128150[/emoji]

Thank you.  I'm so glad I joined this wonderful cat site.  I have to upload some photos of my kitties - although dogs will do too, right? :-)

Thank you.  I think I'm the only person that has photos of her dogs on a cat site!  I love that quote.

Thank you.  A note about  Henry's story ... My mother lived in Utah.  When she was in the hospital, Henry waited for her day and night.  He would leave her room only to do his jobs and eat.   And they say animals aren't sentient beings!  He was my mother's best friend.  Anyway, my brother asked me to take care of him and flew him all the way to Florida!  The day I went to the airport, Henry wasn't on the flight!!  I was more worried than usual because of all the trauma he'd been through for some months.  After some calls, I found out he missed his flight from Dallas to Miami because his flight left Salt Lake City late! :-)

The airline assured me they would let Henry out of his cage in a play area!!  I can't imagine anyone putting their hands in a cage with a huge Maine Coon - unless they're a cat whisperer!  Henry is very gentle which they didn't know.  The only thing they saw is huge ball of fur curled up in the back of his cage! I know they lied.

By the way, Henry lived under my mother's house for a long time.  She made friend's with him and he moved in with her:-)

I'm the lucky one.  There is nothing as fulfilling as looking after God's creation.
