Cute picture! That girl really doesn't know how good she has it. Is she still as aggressive as before?

Take a deep breath. She'll be just fine! Every girl I've had was just fine after their spay. The most recent, Ruby, was loopy just for a couple of days, because they sent pain meds home. Since then, she's been her usual crazy-playful, cuddly self, still trim as can be. (My parent's girls have gotten pretty round, but that's just because they're getting older and less active). Ruby was eating and using her box just fine pretty much right when she got home.
If you do get pain meds to bring home, they'll probably make her pretty loopy. It's pretty entertaining, but I'd keep an eye on her while she gets her bearings. :)
Good luck tomorrow! Try not to worry too much. Kisses for Nala!

She's still as aggressive as ever! Hisses, growls, acts skittish like she's under imminent attack. [emoji]128575[/emoji] My hands look awful, all tore up from her fangs. I have only ever been gentle with her. She trusts me more than she does anyone else though. Her Composure chews are not working. She does have her loving, affectionate times though. She does not really realize how good she has it! [emoji]128570[/emoji] She is a Princess. I will feel better having the pain meds on hand, I'll probably just give them to her if she is in pain like after her emergency surgery. I've read cats try to mask their pain but she was meowing loudly and she's usually not vocal.
I hope she stays trim like Ruby, eck1kaylie!

Pea-Pea did great with her spay! I picked her up and took her home five hours after it was done. I did get pain meds to give her whether she needed or not (pain management is getting more proactice these days, which is good!) for three days. She ate the moment one of the techs put some food in front of her. They had some kitten kibble and she gobbled it up soooo fast they said. Of course, that morning, she was so hungry she tried to eat a dust bunny, so not too surprised that she gobbled up her food.

You were instructed to fast her overnight, yes?

Yes, I'm having my coffee, about to take her in. She usually eats her breakfast while I'm having my coffee. She was just looking up at me with sad eyes when I walked by her empty dish. They instructed not to feed her after 10:00 PM last night. My daughter gave her a Greenies treat about 10:15 pm but that should be fine. I feel so bad for her, she's playing with her ball toy and having a blast. She doesn't know what's coming yet. [emoji]128575[/emoji]

She will bounce back very quickly, I'm sure. She's young, and it's easier for them the younger they are. Penelopy had not only been in heat, but also had at least one litter of kittens (that is known anyway). And she was fine within a couple of days, running around like the wild child she is.

I will be thinking of both you and little Nala today. I know how we all worry about our babies. It must be sad not to be able to feed her. It is good that you are getting her spayed while she is still very young. She should bounce back in no time and be her sweet little self. I look forward to an update later as to how she is doing and that she is back home safe. I will be worrying right along with you. Nala is a special little kitty and I truly care about her!

Thank you all! Just dropped off my precious baby. I managed to not cry this time until I was in my car! They ARE keeping her overnight! Not bc they anticipate any complications but just bc of what an active little girl she is. They don't want her to do anything to make her stitches open or anything so they're keeping her overnight as a precaution. [emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128549[/emoji] They saw how tore up my hands are bc of her biting problem. I tried to minimize it but I can tell they seemed concerned. One tech said people have lost hands due to cat bite infections! [emoji]128563[/emoji] I wash my hands and use hydrogen peroxide. She only bites me, she doesn't let anyone else get close enough to her! Idk, she's a young, playful girl. She has no claws bc of her accident, she was a bottle baby, I don't have the heart to flick her nose or hurt her in anyway. I told the tech that I got her Composure chews & they're not working as of yet but she said they have something similar and the rep said they can take 4-5 weeks to work so I won't give up on those just yet. I love Nala Ava Marie. I don't expect her to be loving all of the time. She doesn't crave affection. She's not a needy animal. She loves me in her own way. What kind of accident did she have that they had to take all her claws? Sounds terrible. Unfortunately, de-clawed cats can have a biting problem, even if the loss of claws occurred because of an accident, they don't know the difference---they only know that they feel defenseless because of not having claws so they turn to biting. And being a bottle baby doesn't help either. Hopefully she calms down a bit as she gets older. But it's true that cat bites can turn into nasty infections so be sure to take care of yourself!

:vibes: that she recovers quickly from her surgery!

Nala Ava Marie has back claws but no front claws as a result of jumping onto a hot oven door when I was checking pizza I was baking in 425• oven. She sustained severe burns on her front right paw and superficial burns on the left front paw. The severity of the burns to the right paw led the vet to believe infection could easily set in. They said the left side was not that bad but for the sake of her balance it'd be better to remove right and left front claws. I was devastated. Even before her accident she was beginning to be a biter. She very seldom scratched anything or used her claws aggressively. She's always had a biting problem. At first, I just chalked it up to her teething. I wash my hands and use hydrogen peroxide, especially if I notice that I'm bleeding and she punctured my skin. Is it possible she'll calm down with age? She's so skittish. She's always acting as if she's on high alert, insecure and fearful. I've given her no reason to feel that way. 90% of the time it's just her and I. I admit, I've been very lax on dicipline with her for many reasons. She is my first cat ever, I'm attached to her bc I hand raised this little girl. I want her to trust me and feel safe and secure. I know it may seem as if I'm emphasizing the negatives but I have to add, at night, she jumps up on my bed, purring, she nuzzles my face (sometimes I admit I'm scared, wondering is this gonna be a bite or a cuddle?) usually if she's purring and her tail is not twitching, she just wants to be close to me. She puts her beautiful face as close to my face as she can without suffocating me. She then plops down beside me and falls asleep. If I accidentally wake her, I just rub her little cheeks, chin and between her eyes and top of her head until she closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep again. When she is startled easily, she does this sidewinder stance and arches her back, her fur stands on end, she looks very intimidating. She does not hiss at me but hisses and growls at almost everyone else. She sometimes jumps up on my lap when I'm watching TV, she just likes being close to me. She's so irresistibly cute that I want to pet her. Usually, that's a mistake. Lol. What did I do wrong? Can these behaviors be remedied? I get so insecure about my ability to care for her that sometimes I want an expert, qualified person to take her! Not that I want to give up on her but so she can be happy. What if I'm making her miserable? I promised her I'd never give up on her and I won't. Her behavior makes me so sad. The only thing I have not bought this kitten is a kitty condo, that's on the list eventually. She has a drinking fountain, several beds, blankets, toys, clothes that she hates so I don't make her wear them. The best food, only bottled water, never tap water, I play with her. I hold her, talk to her, and try to give her lots of attention.

Oh poor baby. I bet that ordeal was just as bad for you as it was for her. :hugs:

You're not doing anything wrong. Just keep doing what you're doing. The spaying might help calm her down and she should mellow some with age. She's just a baby. Was she taken from her momma to soon for some reason? Momma cats teach their kittens a lot of manners while they are with them. Maybe she missed out on some of that. Rewarding her with treats or play time with a toy when she lets you pet her can help. It will associate you (and pets ;) )with yummy things. Jackson Galaxy has a lot of very helpful videos up on his Youtube channel. Why not give some of those a watch?

You're a good cat mom and (again) you're not doing anything wrong. Just give her some time. It sounds like she loves you a lot, she's just growing into herself. I hope the spaying goes well and she recuperates quickly. She's a beautiful little girl and she's lucky to have someone who loves her so much. if only all cats could have that.

Looking back at how my fiancé first found her, abandoned, starving, dehydrated, eye infection in both eyes, she has come a long way. Her 2 siblings did not survive. Her birth Mother either died or was too sick or young to care for her.

That explains a lot. She wasn't taught a lot of her necessary kitten manners from mom. She's come a long way. She will continue to progress. Just make sure that you tell her NO when she bites and reward her when she behaves the way you want her to. She'll learn. Cats are smart. Sometimes when Lilith or Sophie is snuggled with me, they will stroke my arm with their paw. Sometimes with the claws about halfway out. I ask them to put the claws away please and they do. They will lift the paw, the claws go in and arm stroking continues. :9:

I think it may be time to think about medication to help with Nala's behavior. You clearly love her so much and give her a great life, but she still sounds very anxious. And it's making you anxious too! Neither of you should have to live like this.

Are the behavioral issues with your stepson and fiancé getting better? I still wonder if she's being abused or scared in some way...

Try not to make excuses for her behavior. She is attaching you and it's awful. Don't give up on her, obviously, but do get yourself help.

Just called to check on my baby girl! Her surgery went fine! She's awake and the tech said they're going to try giving her some food in a little bit! Her incision is only about 1 1/2" so that isn't as bad as what I was expecting. I'm paying the additional $15.00 or so for them to do this laser procedure that seals the stitches or something like that? I didn't fully understand that aspect but they said it promotes faster healing. They actually did that on her paws too. Will she have to have stitches removed? I feel like an idiot being so uninformed. They said I can call later this afternoon before they close, then call to check on her in the morning and then set up a time for me to pick her up.
