So I'm starting to switch my cats over to wet food. They like the real shredded foods like Weruva & Cats In The Kitchen.
Any recommendations for anything else? I also give them Almo sometimes but I know it's only complimentary.

Soulistic at Petco (allegedly made by Weruva). Their Good Karma and Harvest Sunrise are favorites in my house (moreso than Weruva).

Soulistic IS made by Weruva
Weruva also has the BFF line which is mostly all seafood in chunks or shreds.
I say "allegedly" because I've never actually seen and proof or confirmation it's made by Weruva. Do you have a source? I'm mostly curious. I don't care one way or another, really.

You'd think Weruva and Soulistic would at least have different phone numbers!

As for the OP's question!

For real shreds (the ones that are like pulled or diced meat) our cats eat lots of Weruva's Cats in the Kitchen cans, a little Soulistic (including the gross-looking chicken dinner gelee/pate/shred blend, which they love), and lots of Tiki Cat (they especially like Tiki's Gourmet Carnivore foods).

They also like some of the "minced" and "sliced" foods that seem more shaped: Nutro Natural Choice and Bravo's new turkey fricassee.

Good luck, @xKitty Loverx! It's great that you're switching your cats to canned food!

I had a can of Soulistic Good Karma and Weruva Paw Lickin Chicken side by side and I noticed the address was the same. I had heard that they were made by the same people but seeing that confirmed it. How do they answer the phone? Soulistic or Weruva? Do they alternate?

My cats prefer Soulistic.

Back to topic again

Fussie Cat is also shredded. http://www.fussiecat.com/product80g_gold_03.html#end

Lotus Just Juicy is our new favorite shredded - the turkey stew in particular. LJJ is single protein, minimal veggies (carrots that can be picked out and not too many), no carrageenan or gums other than agar agar. LJJ does contain potato starch but the food is no more starchy (or even less so) than Weruva.  The turkey stew seems to have less starch than the pork stew (which I drain).

Interestingly when I contacted Weruva to ask if they would ever consider making a turkey formula single protein, David F. (owner) said it would be far too expensive for them to produce because they use proteins that are "the same exact ingredients used in products for people around the globe."  I don't know about LJJ other than it looks good enough for the humans to eat and I'm definitely not paying any more for LJJ than I was for Weruva's Steak Frites (or other higher priced point foods I've used, Instinct, etc.)

I guess that explains the dearth of shred foods with turkey! I wish there were more, too.

Here's Weruva's "drop us a line" page. Note the address and phone number

http://www.weruva.com/drop-us-a-line.php

Here's Soulistic's site. Scroll to the bottom and look at the address and phone number

Ah! That's pretty obvious then. It reminds me of Trader Joe's how they repackage things as their brand but its obviously another popular brand (Like Annie's or something) but TJ wont tell you because that's how they operate.

Would love to try Lotus but
the price on Chewy is $45 for 24 cans of 2.5oz
I'd try it too but that's ridiculous. I saw it on Chewy too.

Amazon has it too but from other sellers. The turkey is $36.58 shipped from Petfoodetc. $28.49 plus $8.09 shipping for 24 2.5 ounce cans. Paying for shipping is against everything I stand for.

That still makes it $1.52 for a small can.

Same here regarding shipping. lolz.

Might have tried it if Amazon had it on their Subscribe and Save

So would I. They don't have enough cat foods available for subscribe and save IMO.

There is an independent pet store in town. I haven't been there in a while. I might stop by and see if they have it. I like the store but the section for cats is all the way in the back in a corner. Every time I go there it reminds me of going to a video store back in the day. There'd be a "certain" section closed off from the rest.

I always imagine this conversation going on:

Female shopper: "look honey. What is that that woman doing over there?"

Husband: " I believe she's buying cat food, dear"

Wife:  (gasping) " by HERSELF? during the DAY?"

Husband: "Calm down, dear. It happens".

Some of the independent stores where I live are like that, too! I'm glad one of the newer stores, where I've started buying food, has a larger-than-usual cat section. They have more raw foods than most and seem to keep up with new products. It's one of those places that I'll go to even though I hate getting there!

An email response I just got from Weruva:

Thank you for the email to Weruva/Soulistic and support of our products (yes, Weruva manufacturers Soulistic J). We are pleased to hear that your kitties enjoy our food. By and large, Soulistic and Weruva share similarities from a processing and sourcing standpoint, but there are of course several differences amongst the varieties . . . basic things such as the protein used or the cut thereof . . . to the medium. Some flavors are quite similar amongst the brands, but some may be quite opposites.

Again, thank you for the kind email. Please let us know if you have further questions or comments.

Best Regards,

David Forman, President and Co-Founder

Soulistic is made exclusively for sale at Petco and Petco.com
