The bird lived!  It flew into the glass door and was sitting on the patio not looking good, not moving.  The cats were very excited.  Eclipse kept looking and it and me and meowing. Fluffy was pacing on the window sill.   I asked Kim to take a picture of it for DH, it was a Cedar Waxwing.  She noticed it was still breathing.   Called the wildlife rescue and they said it could take up to an hour for the bird to recover.  It was getting chillier and we were trying to decided if we should create a wind block to keep it a little warmer and all of a sudden it flew to the bushes!  so happy,  I hate having to throw dead birds out.

I think I'm finally getting some resolution in terms of feeding my pets. Was trying so hard to figure out the best way to feed the five cats with various needs. This week has been working out really well. I substituted Maple's second feeding of dry food for a feeding of 1.5 oz of low-cal wet food. Was way more satisfying to give her that than to give her 1/16 of a cup of dry food. She seemed a LOT less depressed this week than last. Haven't been getting that "Why are you STARVING me?" look. And of course Sara's been eating, period.

Makes me very happy :D

I noticed a leak in the ceiling of the downstairs bathroom over the weekend and after some investigation it looks like it is from my husband not making sure the shower curtain liner in the upstairs bathroom was properly in position when showering. I bought a new liner yesterday and it doesn't look like there are any leaks today. My husband will have to put some new sealant, caulk, whatever it is called around the bottom of the bathtub.

Plumbing leaks on the second floor are bad news and I'm thinking that isn't the issue.

I planted some tree seeds after Jasper died (a "Christmas tree to be" grow kit from target) and Ruby killed the first four seedlings, but the fifth one just sprouted!
(Any tips on keeping her away from this one? :lol3:)

You're going to laugh at me....I've fallen in love. With The Beast. Honestly, she just makes me smile.

I love to watch her when we're outside. Jackie loves to run and it's all I can do to keep up with her. And the way she stands so still and alert when she catches a whiff of something. She just looks so happy when we're outside. She looks adorable when she's sleeping, all curled up in her beds at night. And in the morning, while the cats are screaming for their breakfast, she greets me with her entire hind end wagging. She really seems happy here with us. We're all getting our routines down and things seem to be working out well. Yeah, she still hangs out in the kitchen while I'm cooking and while we're eating dinner....somehow it doesn't bother me the way it used to.

She's just such a doggone happy dog!

Oh Pam.,

I am so happy to hear you say/admit this! It has been a long, tortuous time coming...

I am honestly a believer in that things happen for a reason.

so happy for Miss J and you!

Nope. No laughing at you. I'm very happy for all of you. I'm sure Rick's dad is very pleased that his little girl is in a happy, loving home.

Three cheers to the kids for being so accepting.

My mammogram came back clear. Whew. I always sweat it out as I have had suspicious ones before and have had to have biopsies, etc.

That really is good news!

My power is still on, so that's a very good thing in my life!

Congrats, Karen!

We survived the storm. 10-12 inches of snow. Power stayed on and I spent yesterday baking cookies. I love to bake when it's snowing. There's just something about hanging out in the toasty kitchen with the oven on and the smell of freshly baked cookies while standing at the sink window and watching it snow.
