I know she is close to birth but she started pulling out her hair by her vagina today and licking it a lot. she is also pacing and wanting lots of cuddles from me. she is HUGE! I cut the hair around her bum and vagina to help her but I'm wondering.... is this a sign shes in labour?? help! also, if I put up a pic, maybe could someone tell me what breed she is?

Sure, Post a pic!

Poor kitten, still a kitten and having kittens! Surprisingly, that is not the first time I have heard of that happening. You really should neuter and spay them :/ There are soo many homeless kittens in the world! Also, do any of your cats have breeding papers? If they don't, the only thing you can say is that they are domestics or "moggies", which is about 95% of all of the worlds cats due to mixing.

Is your cat long or shorthaired? They may have a close ancestor of a pure breed but if there are no papers it is unlikely. Either way I am sure the kittens will be very cute as all kittens are.  I'm sure there are many experts on this site who could tell you what the kittens would probably look like if you posted pics.

Have you read the articles on pregnant cats and taking care of kittens in the Pregnant Cat section? They are really helpful and will tell you what to look for and what supplies you should have on hand. It's been too long since I had a pregnant cat to give any advice but there are several very experienced members who can help you when the time comes.

Here are a few articles that will help with basic info.

[article="31379"]Pregnant Cat What To Prepare For The Birth[/article]

 [article="29720"]Pregnancy And Delivery In Cats[/article]

[article="31414"]Help My Cat Is Having Kittens[/article]

Has your kitten been to a vet, it may be a good idea to have her seen in case you need help when she gives birth.  Young mothers do not always know what to do regarding feeding and cleaning their newborns, so be available to help.

Keep using this thread for any questions you may have.

Has she been showing signs of nesting? She may be ready to go into labor. Does she appear to have milk? You are going to have to keep an eye on things once the kittens are born. She is still a baby herself and not all cats that young will have the same maternal instinct an older cat would be expected to have. If you haven't been already, please feed her as much as she likes. Soft food is best. She can use all the nutrients and the soft food will keep her hydrated and healthy. Being pregnant this young can stunt her growth. You should get some KMR and a bottle just in case. She may want nothing to do with them once they are born or she may end up not producing enough milk to feed them. Keep an eye out for birthing complications. Please consider having your male cat neutered and her spayed once the kittens are old enough.

Its surely near, Two days perhaps?  The licking can even be the beginning of labor.  Nesting comes often quite late.  They look where they may have a nest, but in nature, they dont want to risk to get it smelly too early, or infested with fleas, so they take to the nest very late, or even after the delivery.

I see Handsome send you  some of the links.

So just to prepare yourself, and wait....

re the breed or breed look alike, the best is if you post a couple of good pics in the Description forum.

And for heaven's sake, keep us posted on how the little mite is doing.  She's so young to be a mama.  You may well end up having to assist mama in raising these babies.

Yes, yes, yes, please get her spayed, and you tom neutered.  There are low cost programs everywhere in the US and Canada, so far as I know.  We have lots of Canadian members who can advise you on this.

Yes I have and I made sure to go out and get the items I need just incase. I have also got my male cat fixed I thought cats had to be a year before they get pregnant but I was seriously wrong. She gets kitten food all she wants and I put down 2 cans of wet food a day and if she wants more I give her more. She has been nesting and showing signs but hasn't had them yet I check her belly everyday to ensure I feel them move. I will keep everyone updated and post pics when they come! Thank you all for helping me [emoji]9786[/emoji]

They can get pregnant at 4 months and can have a litter at 6 months old. I hope everything goes well!

That is a common mistake for people who don't know cats well.  Just be thankful she's a cat, not a rat.  They can start breeding as early as 6 weeks, although it isn't recommended.  And they have litters of 7-15 rittens.  Or ratlings, if you prefer.

Some cats do not get milk until they deliver kittens. Not to worry. How is she doing now, though? Getting closer?

its good that they're pink and puffy:). In my experience, when they don't produce milk their nipples never change at all and it almost just looks like the cat is really round

Congrats! Im happy to hear this.  But please, tell, WHEN did it happened? Two weeks ago I though the delivery was near.  Was it near and you are coming now with old news, or did it took almost two weeks more?    Cats do manage late deliveries better than humans, but 10-14 days is much even for cats.   :)

Congratulations! Post pictures for us when you can. With 7, you'll want to watch out for a runt or two. If they are not getting enough nipple time, you'll need to supplement with formula, or put the runt(s) to mom's nipples when the others are sleeping.

That's awesome!! Keep an eye on the runt. The larger ones will try to push him/her off sometimes. I play referee when the little one is getting bossed around too much;)
