Hah. South Park has been epic this season parodying the excesses of academic/PC "safe space" culture, and I've read quite a few articles about how more and more comedians are refusing to go anywhere near colleges as venues for their acts.
When I was an undergrad, we had comedians doing shows on campus once or twice a month, and it was always a good, free way to relax between studying, papers and all that. If you had to stay in for the weekend to get projects done, you could take a break for a few hours, see a comedy show, and not feel too bad about not going out that weekend.
I think, if I was a college kid nowadays, I would lose my mind at the way things have become. As for IRL safe spaces, hey, cats aren't picky...give 'em a cardboard box!
