Sunday we noticed one of the strays we feed daily, had an injured foot. We were able to catch him late Monday night and on Tuesday we took him to the vet. They cleaned up his foot and told us the injury was a bite wound. He tested positive for feline HIV and we brought him home. He seemed fine except for the injured foot. This morning when I got up he was ok .Then about two hours later I found him almost leaning against the wall with rapid breathing and I couldn't wake him. There was a bot of vomit and LOTS of diarrhea all over the floor. Of course I flew into full panic and we rushed him to the vet(luckily one of our vets is less than ten min away) and they gave him oxygen and then placed IV and catheter. He spent the whole day and late evening there and we are taking him back in the morning. The dr said he may have had some kind of seizure. Blood work results are pending. We really love this little guy and have tried to catch him for a long time.

Sorry to reply so late, long long day. He is doing much better today than yesterday but still has to return for fluids tomorrow . Unfortunately he still isn't eating much but the vet does syringe feedings thru the day. The little boyfriend actually rolled over for belly rubs a few minutes go. Vet said he may be on the beginning stages of diabetes .More test results are coming Monday .

Aside from maybe one hour or less once a day, one of us is always here with him and we set up his room to be pretty private and put some dimmer lighting .

Oh, poor little guy. I'm so glad you could get him to the vet, hope they're able to find out exactly what's wrong.

FIV isn't as bad as it sounds. 2 of my cats have it and they're both doing OK.

Awww!  He's so handsome!  If you're on FB, find the Cole & Marmalade page.  Marm was diagnosed with FIV and Chris, his owner, is very helpful with what's helped Marm. Something else is a word about fluids.  Fluids can often give a kitty a feeling of fullness, so their appetite can diminish from fluids.

He's been doing really good. The apartments been pretty chaotic lately since we have to keep him in a separate room. Luckily his room is nice and peaceful .The chaos is in the rest of the place as we reorganize .We are having to replace some doors .Also, Tuxie aka Moonpie the Maine Coon we are fostering, has been working on a Shawshank escape tearing up part of a screen in her room lol
