...with the cats...
lately i've been enjoying watching some of the 'new this fall' tv shows. i'm also noticing that the trend towards 'reality shows' seems to be passing or has pretty much passed -- YAY!

so let's revisit a previous Question of the Day's topic -- focusing on tv shows of the present, and/or new tv shows.

Are there any 'new this fall' tv shows that you've enjoyed watching? Or any new tv shows that haven't started airing quite yet?  (includes tv shows/series that you had not seen previously, like ones that you've recently 'discovered')

How about continuing tv series?  (for example, the new season of X-Files)

here's new/new to me ones i've seen or am interested in seeing --
  • Blindspot -- great tv show! action-packed and a story within each episode, but with a very interesting and original underlying 'story' to it. i've been following this show, watching each episode.
  • The Librarian -- i loved The Librarian movies, and the tv series is pretty good too. i've just discovered this show (first show aired in 2014), and only have seen one episode so far. i'll be watching more episodes.
  • Quantico -- pretty good show, just from seeing the first episode. i really like the 'underlying story' to this show.
  • Limitless -- this tv show is based on the 2011 movie/feature. i really think i prefer the tv series basic story line more than i did the movie/feature's story line -- though i thoroughly enjoyed the movie. in the tv series, the main character is (coerced into) using his abilities to help the FBI solve cases. i haven't seen any episodes of this show yet, though i plan to start watching them.
  • Minority Report -- i found this tv show sort of interesting, and will probably watch more episodes.
  • Rosewood -- i enjoyed this show. i'll continue watching the new episodes as they are available.
  • Heroes Reborn -- i absolutely loved the original tv series Heroes, and this show picks up from where the original series left off and has new characters as well as some 'returning' from the original series. i do enjoy fantasy/science fiction tv shows, but i can be very picky about them -- which ones i really enjoy watching. so i'm kind of surprised that i've enjoyed and continue to enjoy watching the series.
  • The Player -- i'm very interested in seeing this new tv show. i think it's available now on hulu, but i haven't watched any episodes yet.
  • Wicked City -- i haven't seen this show yet, but i really like the idea behind the series. the show is set in a 'different noteworthy era of L.A. history' for each episode, and the format is True Detective style. i plan to watch this series.
  • Indian Summers -- this is a Masterpiece series on PBS. it isn't a murder mystery, but an attempted murder mystery where the story slowly unravels. the series is set in early 1930's in India, which is very interesting to me. i've been following this show, and watching each episode.
  • Home Fires -- also a Masterpiece series on PBS. this series is set in England, on the verge of WW1. the story centers on the women of a particular village in England, their struggles and triumphs and their work on the 'homefront' prior to and leading up to WW1. i've been following this series, and will continue the series through the end of it.
  • Vet School -- this is a 'reality tv' type show that i actually am enjoying watching. it's about students in the Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine, and the episodes center on particular students and the (animal) patients they're treating (under the supervision of residents).
here's the continuing series i'm watching/interested in seeing --
  • Bones
  • Castle
  • iZombie
  • Dr. Pol
  • Orphan Black
  • Sleepy Hollow
  • Supernatural
  • and i'll be watching the new season of The X-Files, starting in January
okay, now it's your turn!

I don't know anything about the new shows; we don't have network tv or cable. We use the tv to play games, watch DVDs or buy movies, Netflix, that type of thing.

We watch some tv shows after they come out on DVD, though, and we are currently on the 3rd season of Vikings - which is an incredibly good show! We are really enjoying it.

My husband recommended Chuck awhile ago and really love it (he knows my genre), I think I've watched them all at least twice. We also watch Big Bang Theory and Modern Family as the new seasons come out on DVD. My current new favorite, other than Vikings, is the British Doc Martin.

Maybe reality shows are losing their popularity, I'm like you and have never cared for them.

I tend to enjoy watching shows, similar to how SwampWitch does, in entire seasons...after they come out on dvd, since I end up missing a lot of episodes of newer shows because of watching some sports, or reading online, doing other things at the time of the airing of the show.  I also tend to watch newer shows sporadically, and lose interest during commercials.

I did watch Chuck, and love it on DVD, as well as Big Bang Theory...for comedies...(and then there was Leverage, the Middle, Relic Hunter...oops...those are not present shows, though.)

The list you wrote @mickNsnicks2mom is awesome.

There are shows on there, that I really want to see, but didn't know they started.

Blindspot does look good.

Limitless, and Quantico -- I have only watched 1-2 episodes, and both look good, but I think I've missed too much in Quantico...or it jumps too far back or forth...so it's a show that really needs attention.

Home Fires -- I saw part of an episode, and really enjoyed it, but did not know what it was called. (now I know...thanks)

Orphan Black

Walking Dead

Game of Thrones

X-Files -- are all on the 'must-see' list.

Heroes Reborn -- I am kind of disappointed in...too confusing, so will not be watching, and I also loved the original series.

SuperGirl  -- maybe

Continuum -- loved it, Sci-fy, but then forgot to watch the rest...strictly wait for dvd, now.

I haven't seen any new for fall shows, I don't really watch that much tv these days.  The only series that I keep up with is Once Upon a Time, which I absolute love.

I haven't watched any new shows... but I do watch:

Chicago Fire  - Just came back for their 4th season this month - I have all 3 seasons on DVD.

Chicago P.D.- Just came back for their 3rd season in September - I have season one on DVD.

The Blacklist - Just came back for their 3rd season this month

They all just came back but I am looking forward to

Chicago Med that airs next month that is new (Nov. 17th) which is a spin off show for Chicago Fire & Chicago P.D. It should be good!

I don't watch a lot of TV but these are my favorites I watch and I am glad they are on a channel we have (NBC) since we don't have cable.

I watch Once Upon a Time too.   And Big Bang Theory.  And that's really about it.  I don't watch much tv, obviously.
  (don't have cable either)

I must check out the DVDs for rental at the library.  Maybe I can watch some series that way.

I'm looking forward to seeing:  Wicked City which starts next Tuesday.  I attempted to watch Blood and Oil and Quantico, didn't like either one of them and I heard Blood and Oil will be cancelled.

My fav's right now and I continue to watch, Scandal, How to get away with Murder, Blacklist, Hawaii 5-0, Shark Tank, Criminal Minds, Gotham, Faceoff, Pit Bulls and Parolees, Big Bang Theory, I just love Sheldon, House Hunters and others I can't remember right now. I don't like any of the new comedies either.

I usually will give a new show a shot, watching it a couple of times and if I don't like it by the second show, I cross it off my list.

Oh wow...I continue to enjoy the NCIS franchises.  Quantico grabbed my attention.  I'll watch that one.  Bones, Criminal Minds and Rosewood are on the list.  I'll watch anything about actual paranormal investigations, but not creepy, "ghosts are eeeeeevil" horsehockey.  Watch a lot of stuff in the upper cable channels, History, H2, American Hero Channel, stuff like that.  Hey..,I'm retired, I have no car, and the neighborhood isn't really conducive to walking.  I have a lot of time on my hands.  Hekitty is quite happy to play 3-4 times for 20-30 minute stretches, but that's her limit.

I have to say that I watch a fair amount of TV. i run in spurts. I do DVR a lot of shows and watch at various times during the week. That is the best part, I can just mom  through the commercials.

PBS: Home Fires, Indian Summer, Father Brown, Inspector George Gently

Network TV: Quantico, Limitless (so-so)

oldies: Big Bang Theory, NCIS LA, Blacklist, Grey's Anatomy (I know), Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder, Once Upon a Time, Major Crimes.

I think that is it.

I also love old movies, especially the classics on Turner Classic Networks. I have a fair amount of DVD's.

I find myself watching more and more PBS programs. They are really well written, are at least an hour in length. I love the full hour because there is more character and plot development.

I was watching  Downton Abbey for a few years, but then I lost interest in it.

I am not a football fan. There is so much of it on T this time of year. I watch these shows in place of the football.

Soon, with the bad weather approaching, I will start cuddling up on the coach and pull out my kindle for reading...

I don't have a TV. I sometimes watch a documentary on YouTube if I have some sewing or  an other sit-down job to do. I feel guilty about just sitting there and watching TV, there are always so many things that need doing around here.

A friend just recommended Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell to me, so I'm going to check that out when I find the time.

I don't have cable either so I don't know anything about any of the new shows. I do watch stuff on Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming. I am rewatching Sex and the City from the beginning on Amazon Prime right now.

I'm kind of interested in watching Limitless, but keep forgetting that it's on. I've watched a few episodes of The Librarians and I like the overall concept, but (again), I forget that it's on and don't catch it. I did watch a few episodes of The Librarians on On Demand a couple times, but kept falling asleep.

I've been an avid Supernatural fan through the best and even muddled my way through the seasons that were downright crappy. Wednesday nights will find me glued to the CW at 9:00.

Used to watch The Vampire Diaries, but I really don't give two cents about Mom and all her family members at this point. I barely watched it last week and won't watch it at all this week because of the Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover. If they're going to create a series about Mom and her family, then let's do it sooner rather than later and put me out of my misery. I didn't care for the "originals" when they started on TVD either and haven't watched an episode of the Originals at all. Insipid at best with all of his temper tantrums.

I'm still watching Sleepy Hollow this season, although I'm having trouble getting interested in Pandora (I'm not a big Shannon Sossamon fan to begin with and that doesn't help). I used to watch Bones til they killed off Sweets and then I gave up. I'll watch it this Thursday night (because of the above mentioned crossover with Sleepy Hollow), although I never hold out much hope for crossovers in general.

Really looking forward to the X-Files in January! I've been an X-Files fan since the very beginning (except for at the very end) and can't wait to see Mulder and Scully back in action.

Does anybody watch Elementary? I've been thinking about playing catch-up with the seasons, then starting to watch Season 4 (starting in November), once I catch up. Is it worth it? I've watched an episode here and there and think I might like it.

I've been finding myself watching Mysteries at the Museum, at the Park, at the Monuments, etc. on Friday nights. They're quite interesting shows overall.

And, of course, The Big Bang Theory, although it's starting to wear a bit thin. But I still find myself giggling my way through it sometimes.

Part of the problem is that I go to bed with a bed and the furkids, turn the tv on....and fall asleep. It's annoying when I awaken just as the ending credits of a show are scrolling. The other night I tried to watch Big Bang and I had to turn that episode on three times because I kept falling asleep during the show.

Most of the time, I have a channel on, but it's for background, more than anything, especially when Rick isn't home. There are nights (other than Wednesdays) when I don't bother to turn the tv on at all.

You can usually get show clips from the show web site as well as details about the show, characters, past episodes, etc. IMDB.com and TvTome.com are other good places to get info on new shows. There may be some info on TvGuide.com but I find that web site too content busy to use. The Muppets has the full first 4 epsodes on the ABC web site. The show isn't the same was the old The Muppet Show but it's still good. Can't go wrong with Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the gang

The local PBS station sometimes a good show on. There was a two part episode of Walt Disney and how he created the Disney company with his brother. I'm sort of watching a cooking / travelling show called I'll Have What Phil's Having. On Saturdays it's the usual cooking shows like repeats of The French Chef with Julia Child, Martha Stewart, America's Test Kitchen, etc.

We have the CREATE channel, which is PBS. I love America's Test Kitchen, Cook's Country, and Martha Bakes. Great cooking shows!

I watched six seasons of Doc Martin that way. My husband put in requests for the DVDs and they would be put on hold when they became available.. (The library is in the building where he works out anyway, so he'd sign them out for me.) For some reason the 4th season was really popular so I ended up skipping that and going back to it later, which was a little confusing.  I like them enough to ask for them for Christmas so I can watch them over a few times, in order.

i'm glad i mentioned Home Fires then! i really enjoy most Masterpiece series on PBS.

yes, Quantico does seem to jump back and forth, which can take me several minutes to 'adjust' to in my mind.

oh! i really enjoy both Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. i vaguely remember hearing of the new show Chicago Med, but it just didn't 'click' in my mind that it might be related to the other two shows -- i stream tv/movies, so i don't see the same kind of commercials which advertise new tv shows. i'll have to check Chicago Med out!
