I think I ask this question every year, but here we go -

What's your favorite Halloween candy?

Have you bought your candy yet? What did you buy?

I love anything Reeses as well as the 100 grand and baby ruth bars....and Payday's too. Do they still even make those? :lol3:

I did buy a bag of candy, a multi pack with Reeses peanut butter cups, Heath, Almond Joy, Milk Duds and Whoppers.

I'm super picky about chocolate and my favorite kind is high quality, imported dark chocolate. I'm not giving that out to a bunch of strange kids. They probably wouldn't like it anyway

When I buy halloween candy to hand out, I always get the big bags of Reese's assortment. I think Hershey bars come in in, Heath bars and stuff like that. We also get the Tootsie assortment big bag, Dum Dum lollipops and stuff like that. DH used to hold a Reese's bag back until the end and hope he didn't have to open them so he could keep them for himself. I've been known to hoard Sour Patch KIds

We never get any treat-or-treaters anymore, but Rick still buys a big bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and throws them in the freezer. They are his; I don't even eat them....I know better.

I don't really care one way or the other. Although I could now eat a Tootsie Pop (thanks, Kat0121!) My favorite candy is Peanut M & Ms, but I try not to buy them. I know only too well what I'm like when there's a bag in the house....and it's not pretty.

I love Tootsie Pops. When DD was small, I used to take her to a convenience store near us and they sold single ones. One day I bought 2. A chocolate one for her and a raspberry one for me. She ate hers right away but I kept mine. When I went to eat it, she ran up and pouted at me. I asked her if she wanted a lick and held it out. She grabbed it and ran away giggling. 10 minutes later, she came back and handed me the empty stick.

I have candy but it's unlikely I'll get any trick or treaters. More mini Crunch bars and Kit Kat bars for me

I don't think we will have any trick or treaters, we don't have many neighbors and their kids are all grown, anyway, but I guess I'd better buy something just in case! There's a community hall that is hosting an event for little kids so we might go there and check out the costumes.

OMG me too! I don't buy Peanut M&Ms at all because I will eat too many of them! What do they put in those things, heroin?

Must be! I know that I just adore those things and I won't stop til the entire bag is gone!

We don't do Halloween; but the church does an event around this time of year.  The kids all get to take home a bag of candy.  They rent several bouncy houses and serve popcorn, cotton candy and in the past they've done hot dogs too.  It varies year by year.  I think I've bought probably 15 bags of candy.  Last year the kids both took home A LOT of lollipops and hard candy.  So I've bought mostly chocolate ones.  Which is why not all 15 are making it to the church.  DD has a peanut allergy; so I've not gotten any Reeses Peanut Butter Cups or Snickers; but lots of Twix, Kit-kats, Peppermint Patties, M&Ms, etc.  The Kit Kats are what is doing me in.

We don't celebrate Halloween. We have a family night at church, usually chili supper, cake walk, bingo, lots of food and fun. It is a family night.

We don't celebrate Halloween either. And we live in the country down a dirt road, so we never get any trick or treaters.

I quit giving out candy when arthritis got the best of me. I did enjoy giving candy to the kids. I used to give out mostly peanut butter cups and Hersey bars. My favorite candy was the stuff that used to come in orange and black wrappers made by Clark. They tasted like Mary Janes's. I looked for some the other day but could not find any.

I haven't gotten my candy yet...better get on it! I like to get something that we will like, if there are leftovers. So probably Hersheys chocolate, I especially like the thick Nugget type ones. Maybe some tootsie pops. Definitely will be chocolate of decent quality in everything I get!!

I remember those peanut butter kisses. Necco brand (who make Mary Janes) makes them too under the Mary Jane brand. I've seen a more generic version floating around but I've never bought them. My Mom adores Mary Janes. When we were kids, it was one of those candies that she could leave lying around safely because none of us would touch them. Those and Good n Plenty. Oh those might be the worst.

If you have a Dollar Tree near you, I would try them. They might have them.

My favorite is twizzlers sweet & sour filled twists, most people say they smell like playdoh, but they taste so good I don't mind.

I tried the strawberry ones with the lemon filling. Those are good and I'm not a big Twizzlers fan

Hi Kat,

Thanks for the advice. I'll look in Dollar Tree for Mary Janes.  The last time I brought them I remember the wrappers struck to them and they were very hard to eat. Your mother and I must be the same age. Even when I was a kid Mary Janes were my favorite penny candy along with fire balls and bubble gum. I agree with you about the Good N Plenty. They were the worst along with those awful waxed lips. UGH!!

@Muffy......If you have a local farmers' market or flea market, check there, too. Our famers' market is also a flea market and there's a person there who sells some of those types of candies. And I know Mary Janes are there, too. If you need a fix and can't find them, let me know via PM. I'll grab some and send them out to you. They have Atomic Fireballs, too...I bought some a while back. Love Fireballs. You grab a bag and fill it, then they weight it out and you pay according to the weight.

Not sure where you're from. In the southern PA area, there's a flea market type of place, The Green Dragon, that's open every Friday. They have a huge candy selection there and Mary Janes are sold.

I am back in an apartment complex so I don't get trick or treaters anymore.  I used to like giving out candy.  I always turned out my light when it was getting close to the end because that seemed to be when the big kids as in teenagers started coming to the door.  I don't know why but that used to bug me.  I always got the bags of mixed miniature candy bars.  Reese's cups are my favorite.
