I'm not sure what to search for, but I was petting my cat's sides when I noticed what felt at first like dried food stuck to her fur. I was trying to get it off, but it wouldn't come off. My cat came back over and I was petting her other side when I felt another one on the other side. I was trying to get it off, but she bit me. Feels like a skin growth like a bump. Insect bites? I hope it's not skin cancer! I'll take her in for a vet visit this Saturday. :( Any ideas?

I wouldn't normally jump to cancer, but when my baby was seriously ill last year, the specialist wanted to test her for cancer with a biopsy. My baby used to sun tan for hours until I put up a window film filter in her former "sunroom" after a vet told me to do that because my baby has a lot of white fur.

I would think it highly unlikely that she would have two skin cancers on opposite sides of her body, but I guess anything is possible.  Can you SEE what these area's look like?  I'm guessing she nipped at you because you were "bugging" her, not because it hurt it, but can't be certain.  But when she is resting, can you just part the fur away from one of the areas and try to see what it looks like?  See if it looks like a wart, or a reddish rash, or just what?

Thanks! That's really good info. When I was trying to touch the second bump, she bit me. Same thing happened again when I tried again later. She attacked me when I tried again, but luckily didn't scratch me deeply. I'm thinking now, hopefully, they're just insect bites. I just worry now about all that sun tanning she did before since she has so much white fur. In case people don't know, cats with white fur are more susceptible to skin cancer. :(

I don't know what it could be, but if you want to get a good look at it, you may want to enlist the help of a second person. Sometimes it's just easier to control a fussy cat when one person gently but firmly holds the front of the cat and the other looks at what needs to be seen.

Hope it's just something simple like insect bites!

I ended up waiting to take my precious cat to the vet until her annual vet examination and the vet said she was healthy except for her some liver level. I can't remember the name. She needs low protein, senior cat food already.
