I Need Help Finding My Missing Cat

My Thomas has recently vanished. How can a 14 lb cat just disappear? He is friendly to all people and other cats.Loves visiting. It has been 5 days now. All the neighborhood is in morning. I have looked all over for him and placed flyers in the streets surrounding the neighborhood and with vets as he is chipped. He is neutered.Is this unusual behavior?

My heart goes out to you, I just pasted a thread re my missing cat who came home after 6 weeks. We are sure she was being kept in by a holiday  let family and they just dumped her when they went home. Maybe the house when empty was on her territory as she went out whenever she wanted... Possibly someone has taken Thomas in like that? I had posters up a I was sure where she might be. A miracle here and watching her sleeping now on my bed as I rest, keep hoping please and look around. Make sure folk check outbuildings etc and empty properties. Bless you! 

My neighbors actually had a cat that disappeared for at least 5 years, and then one day here he came, just walking down the street to their house as if he had never left.  Problem was, the neighbors were no longer there   My Dad recognized the cat and told the people who now lived in the house about Bootsy, and they took her in (the old neighbors had since passed away, so obviously there was no returning her to them)
