Should i be concerned?

In the dog version it says this:

** Please Note: there has been a slight change in recipe for US Orders Only:

Due to the avian flu in the US, the egg yolk in our formula has been removed temporarily.  In its place we have changed the recipe to include 2 fresh eggs per batch.
We hope that conditions improve and we can add the egg yolk back into our products in the future.
This recipe change is ONLY affecting US Orders.

However, in the cat version there is no warning and the ingredients have egg yolk. Should i be worried?

My cats love this powder, ive been trying to find the right recipe for my picky cats, they didnt like raw food, and i wanted to get rid of canned food while i slowly transition them to raw food. For now, i cook some chicken and just add the u-stew powder and they are crazy for it. And best of all, their litter box has stopped smelling in the two days ive been giving them this. it went from smelling the living room, to not smelling at all. But im worried about the risks from the egg yolk. Please advice.

I wouldn't be concerned unless they show some type of reaction to it- like an allergy or something. A lot of cats eat eggs with no problem My cats love eggs. They don't get them often but they love them.

I was just about to order the trial size and I'm very interested in what others have to say regarding this issue...

I suggest contacting the company to ask if the cat version is affected.

I think there may be a misunderstanding. The avian flu has decimated the laying hen population in the US causing egg shortages and driving the price of eggs up. I'm sure all the U-stew folks mean is that they have temporarily removed the egg yolk powder in order to not have to raise the price of their product or perhaps because they are having problems obtaining egg yolk. It's not that the avian flu causes any threat to the well being of your cats if they consume eggs.

You were right, i just got the reply from the company. Such a relief!

Hi Teresa,

The egg yolk was removed because the avian flu is affecting the commercial egg industry and the egg yolk powder is currently not available.  It wasn't removed due to it being a risk for our pets.

We have just run out of our egg yolk supply for the cat food as well - so it will also be an egg free formula.  We are just making the transition this coming week.

We're hoping this is just temporary and the egg yolk can be added back into our products in the future months.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Warm regards,

Dana
