Hey everyone,

A week ago we just picked up our two male kittens, they are norwegian forest cats and we picked them up at 15 weeks (due to vacation we couldn't get them before). They grew up in a cattery with allot of other cats from the same race and two children (so i guess they are used to being picked up etc.).

The personalities of the cats are the exact opposites. One seems to the very distant and will not eat from your hand or come to you whereas the other keep coming to you and eat from your hand. They play very agressive with each-other (they keep fighting, but after a while they cuddle and lick eachother) but we can pet them without them attacking us. But they seem to be very busy with eachother while playing also they are trying to break every toy that we give to them.

Maybe its premature for me to ask this, but they never come at sit with us on the couch looking for some love and cuddling. Is it too soon for me to expect them to come and lie next to us and to ask for some cuddling or should i do something about it asap?

I'm really new with having cats so excuse me for not knowing so much about them and thank you in advance for your answers!

regards,

eelco

Hi Eelco89 and welcome to TCS!

They play very agressive with each-other (they keep fighting, but after a while they cuddle and lick eachother) but we can pet them without them attacking us. But they seem to be very busy with eachother while playing also they are trying to break every toy that we give to them.
And welcome to the world of kittens!
This is classic behaviour for this age.

I don't know a lot about the breed, but since they have each other they're probably not so needy of you... and life for a kitten is play, sleep (a lot) eat, repeat.

Cats are not normally fed from the hand and it isn't an indication of friendliness.

I'd suggest involving yourself in their play.. but not using your hands or feet as playthings!!  Toys like DaBird are really popular.  Or just throwing toy mice around.  That's what life is about when they're awake.
