the lights went back on so no worries.

Helli has put on a lot of weight even though he has been with us for almost a week. he is so playful he has also found the curtains very fun to play with.

the kittens are four weeks old and i have started to try and wean them. is it normal for them to not want to eat the kitten food i made for them? i have softened kitten food mixed with the milk formula and they want nothing to do with it. i put some by their mouth and they turn their heads away. i put some on their feet and they run away. i put them by the dish to try and get them interested and they just run away from it. today is my second day trying to feed them and they are doing the same thing. i try to feed them 4 times a day trying to get them interested and they refuse the food. is this normal. does anyone have any advice on how to get them more interested in it? i have only delt with puppies when it comes to weaning and i have never had this sort of problem with puppies.

They are just not ready to wean yet. Try again in another week. I have four kittens right now, and two began eating mush at 5 weeks, and two others did not start until 6 weeks. Be patient - they'll get there!

they have started to eat on monday. i need to take more pictures they got bigger in the past couple days. the kitten that was born black lighten into a greyish color. i think he will be a pretty looking cat when he gets older. i have started to potty train them and it seems to be going well with that. i have only had a handful of accidents but they are learning quickly.

You don't need to separate them at all. The kittens should begin eating soft foods, and they will still nurse mom on and off, and less as time goes on. It's a process. No separation necessary.

lunas kittens turned four months old yesterday. they are healthy and growing fat, but i a wondering if it is normal for mom cats to still let them nurse. they are eating dry cat food and when they get worm stuff i give them wet cat food. but i was wondering when she is going to cut them off from nursing. i checked the other day to see if she is still producing milk and she seems to still have milk in at least two. is it normal for her to let them go this long nursing?

Oh, how precious :).

Yes, it's normal for mom to still be nursing. When kittens stay with mom they will nurse as long as she lets them. Her milk will eventually dry up and she will hiss or growl at them to stop nursing.

I took in a pregnant stray and have kept her and her four kittens, who are now 9 months old, and two are bigger than mom but they still try to suckle. I had her spayed when the kittens were 8 weeks old, but she continued to produce milk for another 2-3 months.

By the way, the kittens should really get wet food every day.
