I can't find my cat

Hello, everyone!
2 weeks ago my cat fell off the balcony,3rd floor. I didn't see him fall, so I start the search for him in 2 or 3 hours after he fell. I couldn't find him the same night, I had no idea in which direction he may have ran to. The next day I put posters everywhere around the neighborhood and kept searching for him ever since. Few people called but it was not him. I've tried everything, I put my sock outside, his toys, a box he loved to play in, food, sand from his litter box and nothing... He is  very timid and is probably hiding somewhere but I'm not sure that somewhere is near anymore for I live in very noisy area and that noise might have scared him further away. I'm hoping that someday I will see him somewhere searching for food with the other feral cats or he will come closer to home on his own, because I can't search in any hiding place, most of them are uninhabited and practically only small animals can enter. I'm really starting to lose hope and that is why I'm writing here. If someone has some idea of how to find him, what should I do next or something ... I'm sure anything will be helpful! I really want him to be home again! :(

P.S. Please excuse my language, it is not my native language.

Have you called around to all the rescrues and shelters to make sure no one found him and turned him in?  That's the only other thing I can thing of that you haven't already done.

Other than that, I just want to let you know that one of my cats ran out the door once when I was on vacation, and for 3 weeks after I got back I scoured the neighborhood calling her name and nothing happened.  I gave up hope.  Then one day I heard her meow!  It turned out she was right next door under the deck.  So you just never know

Best of luck to you.  Hopefully you kitty will find you

I am praying for you that your cat will return soon, it must be very hard for you.
I don't know if it would help if you sat for a while outside every day and talk quietly, maybe with some food with you, hoping the cat will approach you.  This, of course, is if he is hiding near your home, it may work.  When Speedy gets loose, I have to just sit and let her come to me.  When I call loudly and am in pursuit, it drives her further away.

I know your cat has been gone longer, but maybe if he is near, he might approach.  What is his name?  Again, I am praying that you will re-unite.
My best wishes are with you.

Oh, I really hope that this will happen to me too. I read all about lost cats and how to find them and even the type of cats and what would it probably do if escapes. The good thing was that mine is xenophobic and it is probably closer than I think and wants to come home.
And about the shelters, in my country the shelters are not functioning that well. Here there are cats and dogs all around the streets and they are pretty much not doing anything about it. I'm checking their online page for any posts of found pets, but my cat is not in it yet. Besides I doubt that anyone will be able to catch my cat, because he is scared and if someone tries he will probably run. I'm not even sure that I will be able to catch him if I see him :D

He is a beautiful boy and you and Toby are in my thoughts and prayers for a reunion.    You are doing the best thing - being persistent and it sounds like you are trying to think like he would think.

I had a cat 10 years ago, who was indoor/outdoor and was let outside when my sister had to come get some things for me as I went to the hospital.  I was gone for a week in the hospital and my sister did not get her back in!  I am sure she was scared. When I came home, she was gone for another 10 days, then I saw her on the porch one morning.  I don't know why she did not come back when I first came home from the hospital because I was calling her and calling her.  I am still praying your little one will return to you.  Please let us know how you are doing.

Thank you so much, Raysmyheart! His brother Hiro and I are also hoping that he will be back home soon.

About your cat I think that she might have been further away from home, exploring and probably that is why she didn't answer to your calls at the beginning. But who knows really what is in the cat's mind

I was at my vet's office today, he asked if Toby is back and told me a story about another cat that has escaped and was found a month later in the basement, they heard her meowing and they followed her voice to the basement. So really when it comes to cats, time doesn't mean that much. Most of the people think that if a week has gone by and the cat is still missing, then there is no chance of finding her anymore, which is obviously wrong. Yes, the risks are bigger for the cat's health and well being, but it doesn't mean that it won't be found if it has been too long since it has escaped.  I'm sure Toby wants to come home and it is a matter of time to do so.
Again, excuse my language! I'm going out now to search for him once again! :)

My supervisor at work had her small cat go missing recently, about two weeks total.  He escaped when her small son opened the door.  When she told me, it was 1 week he was missing.  A week later, she told me that he appeared crying at the door.  Let us know how you are doing, this is so hard for you.

I'm SO happy for you!!!!  I can't imagine the joyous reunion you two had! Where did you find him? Did he come back home or was somebody taking care of him? Thank you so much for updating us and giving a lot of people hope that are missing their kitties right now. It's a miracle!

As almost every night I went out to search for him, walking around the streets. I was just thinking that he could have gone in any direction and the chances are pretty small for us to be at the same place and time at once. I was walking around up to 6 blocks away, going through every street and turn the flash on for every black cat I see. This night I've decided to go a little further, across the blvd, where I rarely went, because I thought he wouldn't cross a blvd. When I cross it I saw three cats just hanging :D one of them was black, so as usual I went to check. The black cat went under a car, but it's tail was as big as Toby's and it's body was as long as his. So I called him and he stopped. He looked at me, I called him again and he start meowing and meowing. I still was not sure it was him, so I put some food on the ground but he was still standing under the car, so I put some more closer to him and he came out, gave no attention to the food but rubbed his face in the packet of food I was holding and my hand so I grabbed him, checked if he was neutered and he was and it was Toby! I couldn't believe it, on the way home he couldn't stop rubbing him in me and he was holding on tight! Nothing bad had happened to him and I'm so glad. He is just really skinny now, but we will fix that in no time :D All night long he was purring like never before! Now he is sleeping soundly right next to me and I still can't believe I found him! My hopes of finding him were already gone, I was just wandering the streets just in case, but there he was, waiting for me to take him home <3 Over two months had gone, here we had some really crazy storms, I was really worried about him, but he survived it all and I'm proud of him!
I wish all the same luck I had to everyone who have lost their pets. My advise is don't give up too soon and don't lose hope!
