So, I had some loyalty points w/ 1-800 Pet Meds from Angels Heart Guard, so I decided to put them toward some calming treats, in hopes to get them before the 4th.  We already had fireworks going off at the stadium a couple of houses down on the 1st & 2nd. (I think there must have been a game going on). Angel runs under the bed & stays there a while after.

Anyway, I got them yesterday, & gave him one last night around 9:00,  just in case. He seemed fine last night. Turned out there weren't any fireworks last night.  This morning, he threw up outside of the litter box, while he was in it trying to poop. He got out, & walked away. (w/ only a couple of small ones in there).  I got it all cleaned up, & he came back, did a regular big poop, & by time he got to the next room, he threw up again, but it was only a little. This time only liquid, no food, & was a little orangy/brown, so maybe the ginger in the treat??? I don't know, seems like it wouldn't upset his tummy.  Could it have been because of the treat, when I gave it to him over 12 hours before? (this all happened about 9:45 this morning). He also woke me up at 6:15 this morning passing a small hairball. After that, I could hear his tummy growling, so I went ahead & fed him breakfast, even though it was a little over an hour early.

I pasted the ingredients below, to share.

Anyone have experience w/ these treats?  Opinions??

Thanks!

Vomiting while or immediately after having a bowel movement is often due to constipation. Which it sounds as if Angel may have been based on your description.

That's not to say that he isn't sensitive to the treats; but, I would expect a reaction more quickly. But, the treats do contain a few ingredients that cats can be sensitive to.

Thanks for responding CatPack.  I'm not sure about the constipation, since he came back about 5 minutes later & made a normal big one. Of course he seems to like to do that in the corners, so even though he has a big under the bed storage box as a litter box, he will still end up "hiney hanging" & sometimes it ends up on the floor.
I think I'm too afraid to try the treats again. I don't want to upset his tummy, if it was because of them. I guess I'll just give them to my parents for their cat to try.   I have also given him his hairball stuff a couple of times a week instead of once a week, because that helps, as most of his hair comes out in his poop, so he doesn't spit up hairballs too often. I give him one I found at Pet Smart by GNC Pet. I like it because it's petrolatum free & has psyllium in it.

I also brush him almost every day, if not every day.  He doesn't like the furminator, but I do use it once & a while.

He was hungry after throwing up, so I wanted to keep it light in case he wasn't feeling well, & gave him some of his Pure Bites treats, sense it's just freeze dried chicken. He was still hungry, so I gave him a little turkey baby food mixed with a little water. He's sleeping in his carrier now.

Your title stuck out because I've had the same problem with my female Siamese.
After many, MANY stressful vet visits, I figured out that for the last 7 pukey years it was her food. All those brands use all kinds of nasty things in their food/treats and create allergies

Grain and meat by-products are leftovers of beaks and feathers. The sensitive stomach formulas are the same

Since I switched to Nutro and Natural Instincts(?? Or something like it) , and occasionally give their regular old beak treats, there's been significant vomiting decline; down from 2/day to 1/week.

Tl;dr:
Try a grain free, *meat byproduct free* (most important detail- NO beaks and feathers). no more hair balls either...

Thank you, but the problem was not with his food, but with one treat that he had/tried once.

Thanks to joining  this site  almost 4 yrs. ago, & learning so much here, I am aware of how bad "by products, grains etc.. are. (He used to be on Natural Balance food, & Before the Grain).

Angel has been on grain free, good quality food for years now. (& wet only)

When he had some urinary problems in 2012, he had (after trying other options)  to be switched to Rx food, but after more than a year of that, I was able to find a better quality & better ingredients, more natural food that still addressed the urinary issue in keeping his pH where it needs to be.  (Thanks to a great staff at a natural pet food store we have here).  He has been on that, (Dave's Restricted Diet/ magnesium formula) for around a year or more now.

He has never had throwing up issues related to food, only when he was sick w/ the urinary issue.

I bought the above "calming treats" only for the 4th of July, in hopes he wouldn't be so scared when he heard fireworks outside, but after trying the first one,

& him throwing up the next morning, I'd be reluctant to try one again, to see if that was really it.

So, now I have two bags of these treats that he has only had one of, so think I will be giving them to my parents for their cat to try, since Angel obviously can't tolerate them.

I'm glad you figured out what was making your kitty sick. I'm sure she feels much better
