Cleo. Female DMH Calico. Adopted from: A neighbor. Passed: February 16, 2014. R.I.P. We only had her for a few months, but it was long enough for her to have a place in my heart.

Kirk. Male DSH Ticked Tabby. Adopted from: a local animal shelter in January 2014.  We got him because we though Cleo needed some company.  It took her about a week to get to the point where she tolerated him.  He was going on 4 months old when we got him and we suspect he may have been the runt of the litter.  Hyper as a kitten, he grew up to be a lounger who will allow his kitten side to show on occasion.

Bones. Male DSH Van pattern Grey and White with odd colored eyes.  Adopted from: a neighbor, different from Cleo's old owner.  He came into our lives the day after Cleo passed.  We did a trial period with him.  After seeing how well he and Kirk got along (they started playing the same day Bones came to us), I couldn't take him away from Kirk.

Garrus.  Male DSH Ticked Tabby, suspected Abyssinian ancestry. Adopted from: a local animal shelter in March 2014. He walks on a leash, is playful, observant, and loves to be where the action is.  He's a people watcher and quickly adjusts when a new cat is introduced.

Pip.  Male DSH Silver Tiger Striped Tabby.  Adopted from: a local animal shelter in August 2014.  The shelter had to make room.  He had been there for a month.  I'll let everyone else fill in the blanks.

Courage.  Male DSH Tabby.  Adopted from: a neighbor March 2015; he is one of Cleo's surviving kittens.  We call him our 4 year old kitten because he loves to play.  We took him in when circumstances at his old family's home had changed enough to cause him stress. Currently, he is dealing with an injured foot which we have an appointment with the vet for tomorrow.

Taz, our most recent addition and last cat for a long time.  Male DMH Black.  Adopted from: a local animal shelter.  Playful and full of personality.  He is the youngest and smallest and loves to chase the other cats around the house.

I use to volunteer at a local animal shelter, where I now work.  Naturally, I would come home smelling like strange cats as I mostly worked with the cats.  My fuzzy crew would give me the 3rd degree.  One day, I had gotten into my head to lay down and see what they would do.  This was the result.

It almost looks as though they are gathering evidence for use in some evil kitty plot they may be planning; they would do the same to my husband as he also volunteered at the shelter.

(It really makes me wonder... )

One day, I had gotten this text from my husband: "I seem to be trapped."  I came into the kitchen to see this. Of course, I had to get my camera before rescuing my husband.

Both getting trapped in the laundry room and being thoroughly investigated, after returning from a day of volunteering was a regular occurrence.  The cats would eventually lose interest, though, especially when they discovered a new cat wasn't going to suddenly materialize.

(It was only a matter of time...)

My husband wanted a black cat.  I wanted a DMH Black.  One day, this little guy was dropped off at the shelter as a stray.  I instantly fell in love with him.  Shortly after Taz became available for adoption, I started talking to my husband about adopting one last cat.  On the days he came in to volunteer, My husband spent time with Taz to get to know him.  Taz had been at the shelter for nearly a month when we finally decided to adopt him.

A couple of our cats hissed and one growled in protest, but two of them didn't seem to care when Taz did come home.  Eventually, they got over it. :)

(Pip is under the box.)

Welcome to TCS! I love your photos - they show such a fun household. And all your cats are so beautiful. I'm sorry about Cleo. She is so regal in her picture.
