So my cat is about a year old and is clearly due to have kittens any day now. I can clearly see the fetuses moving around inside her and she sleeps a lot and eats a lot more. She ways a lot more then she used to and likes to have attention a lot. Anyone know how much longer until there will be kittens? Thanks. Also we will be spaying her once the kittens are weaned.

Hard to know for sure, but if you see kittens moving she is perhaps 2-3 weeks from delivery. :)

Most cats deliver a healthy litter with no problems! Keep us posted on her progress. :)

Thank you! Also I think she might be having them tonight or tomorrow. She is skiddish and her stomach ripples. Contractions maybe? I have no idea what breed she is because my friends found an abandon litter of kittens in the woods and took them in. That was a year ago and now she is her full size. Also I don't know who the father is. There are close to no cats in the neighborhood, but about two months ago a yellow and white Tom was always hanging around in our yard and around the same time our cat went into heat. Of course I let her out b/c she was so anxious to. I will put up pictures son though maybe tonight. Thanks for the help![emoji]128008[/emoji]

@catluvr101  A feral cat in our area went into heat back in March and there were 20 cats laying around waiting for their 'turn'.  I've never seen so many cats in one place before.   Males will travel a mile if they smell a female in heat.

I've heard things like this before, how weird huh? Also do you anything about those stray cat diseases? I'm pretty sure the male is stray and disappeared and haven't seen him since, do strays just wander everywhere?

Tx, now I got myself a heartily laugh!

What you write, may be precontracions, a sort of mother nature to exercise her muscles....  If so, the self delivery will be soon but in perhaps 3-4 days.

I hope you spay her after this, if you dont want more of such here adventures.   This is the only safe way.   :)

Im sending some links!

Many of these links have been readied by our forumist  Red Top Rescue:

We have a good collection of articles in the Cat Health section which you can access by scrolling up to the brown bar, clicking on Articles, and then choosing the Cat Health section and scrolling through the choices.  To make this super easy for you, I am copying the links regarding birth, delivery and newborns for you here.  After reading this information, let us know if you have any more questions.  And good luck with your approaching new arrivals.

Goats milk is useful instead of kmr. Raw goat milk is best, but bottled full fat is OK too.

Observe, if an orphan is much bloated, gas-filled, bloated, have colic, simethicone (google on it) may help.  1-2 drop in the bottle.

Fleece or flannel good to use in the bedding for kittens.

Toms tends to seek after females in heat...  And wander where they find them. They have good noses, so they feel them even several kilometres away, if the circumstances are good.   And the females in heat, feeling a tom nearby, she wants of of course out...

Oh yes, once the kittens are weaned, the first thing is a visit to the vet. Thanks for all the links, it's very helpful. She seems very healthy for a pregnant cat and show no signs of disease. And there is a lot of kitten movement inside. I'm guessing about 4-5 kittens b/c it looks like she swallowed a melon![emoji]128516[/emoji]

Sounds as she hasnt dropped yet.  Sot its alomst surely precontractiosn, and you have several days to wait for the real labor...

If the male bit your girl on the neck during mating he could have passed along a disease.

I don't know really. she never seems to be missing fur or have any scares or cuts in the past.

No. That is the area that seems to develop first, but the others will come along. The bottom nipples get suckled the most too by kittens!
