Stunning photographs, I wouldn't have the nerve to stand taking photos, I'd off down that basement fast as I could with gathering up all who needed to be safe.  I don't think my nerves would hold up living where there were storms like that but I know many do and have no choice.  It looks amazing though.

What you describe does sound like neurological symptoms which is very sad for Chanel, but she has been tough
to survive so far and now she has a loving home to settle in her life couldn't be any better.  She sounds adorable so as word gets around about what you are doing I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone kind came to offer her another safe and loving place to spend her days.  What a gift you have given this little soul. :9:
I want her to stay where she is and that.it will become her ever loving home. If you decide not to keep her :'( maybe make sure there are no kids in the house to upset her. Please let her stay. I know you've lots but she's just one little cat extra who's had a terrible life up to now. :-\

I'm sure sweetlynn will find the absolute perfect home for her and wont let her go until that home comes along, as sad as it is there are going to be many many more cats just like Chanel who need a space at Polkas rescue to learn how to be a loved family pet, as tempting as it must be for rescuers to keep every cat that comes along it just wouldn't be possible, Chanel moving on to her forever home means there will be space for another cat to be rescued and that is so so important

I couldn't have said it better than B bellad just did.

I echo those sentiments wholeheartedly. It takes a special person to perform foster care because a lot of it involves "letting go".

I know that sweetlynn86 sweetlynn86 will only let Chanel go to a fantastic forever home! :)

As much as I would love to keep Chanel, and every kitten I come across, I can't because I wouldn't have the time or ability to devote to others that need help. She won't be rehomed until she has a clean bill of health from the vet and we know more about her personality so we can match her with a family. At the moment, she seems to adore kids but she's so docile that an elderly home would be a great option for her. I'm in no hurry though and she'll be with us for probably a year or so before moving on. We are having some issues with Chanel/Polka this evening. As I mentioned before, Chanel doesn't use typical cat facial expressions. She's always wide eyed. Well, polka and Chanel are perfectly fine unless Chanel makes eye contact. She looks at polka in a very threatening way but she's not trying to be threatening. They're fine again once they're side by side instead of staring eye to eye. Chanel will pick up on proper cat language though. All the other cats couldn't care less how she chooses to look at them.

I know there will be loads of fosters, babies and a miserable face. I'm sure they've taken more pictures of my grandddaughter.
why I'm nagging on my knees is because she's a poor kitty. She's had such a bad start to life. Ignored, forced to have a litter each time she's up the centre. And she can get pregnant whenever..
I know I'm speaking a bit of rubbish. I just feel like if she was now. I can't explain. You have to keep her or fly her to me.
I'm getting all weepy here about chanel.

Have you reported them yet?
hugs to you.

The thing is about becoming a rescue is that this mindset (wanting to keep just this one) is "dangerous." There are always going to be special ones that we feel that way about, but to keep would mean not having space for the next. The "dangerous" part is that, often times, the seizures done by rescues and investigations are taking animals from what started as a family wanting to help animals, becoming a "rescue" and then overwhelmed either by taking on too much or keeping too many.

Another thing to consider is that one of the most rewarding aspects of rescuing is seeing the animal you nursed back to health finding their perfect family and finally going HOME!

I do understand all that but most of these cats are fosters and go to other homes. I just feel very strongly about chanel. She's got problems and it's not known how she'll be treated somewhere else. She already sees her rescuer as a god who swooped down and took her out of a most disgusting situation from a cat farm. This cat I'm particular needs you. She's been so not assimilated that.that's going to take time. She has to aclimate herself with kitties and who knows how that will play out. She may not want them as she wants, she knows, mummy belongs to her.

@sweetlynn86 I noticed from your face book page that you are really out in the middle of nowhere.  I wondered why you would drive so far (2 hrs for Polka's kittens and then 4 hrs for Chanel) for the  cats.  Do you think you will be contacted to take some of the animals from Chanel's home if the ASPCA needs fosters and rescues to take the cats in.

@stewball weren't you also trying to get @Checkers to keep some of her foster kittens too?

I would truly love to keep Chanel but alas, it's not fair to keep kittens to please myself and leave others out there to suffer. I'm not sure if I would be contacted for Chanel's old family or not. Probably not as they are so far away. I'd prefer not to at the moment as Chanel is requiring so much attention. I'm pleased to announce as of 30 minutes ago, all of Polkas kittens have homes! What a relief to know we have successfully lined up homes. All adopters have agreed to sign a contract stating they will spay/neuter or relinquish ownership. They have all agreed to the adoption fee and homecheck as well.

Channel is so beautiful. I'm glad she is getting to spend time in your home. I am sure you will find her the perfect home when she is ready.

Nice work!

This is just perfect! You will have copies of the contracts and can send out follow-up postcards to everyone.

Will you require proof of spaying and neutering?

This must be a huge relief, and will open up room for Chanel's kittens, and whomever else comes along next.

No grass grows under your feet, does it ;).

Just a useless thought for the day.. This kitty family, reminds me of an elephant family..

Polka being the matriarch, the more "experienced", knowing how to take care of the young and how to lead the pack.. And Chanel being the younger female, inexperienced, having a lot to learn from the "matriarch" and alltogether very bonded to a common cause.. Mind you, elephant families consist mainly from females and young elephants male, or female. Once the male elephants are ready, they are being trained to live on their own and are "expelled" in a way from the family..

(end of useless thought

We will require proof of spay/neuter. They will have until the kittens turn 4 months old to get them fixed. We will need paperwork from their vet showing it was done. If we don't receive paperwork, we will have a signed agreement stating we take back ownership of the kitten. We decided to offer an incentive though so when we receive proof of the spay/neuter, we will mail each family a kitten box full of goodies and baby pictures. I've been writing to multiple companies lately asking for coupons and discounts. Been receiving coupons like crazy. We ended up with 2 bags of 9 lives dry food, 1 bag of purina kitten chow and approx 30 cans of wet food for under 20 bucks. Tell you guys a secret...... If you want good coupons, write to friskies and 9lives online and request coupons!

I love that you are requiring proof, and then rewarding them with a gift bag! Smart thinking.

Fantastic tips on the coupons! You are really on the ball :).

Lol! I have to be on the ball. When I fostered through our vet, it didn't cost anything except my time. Now I have to find my own ways to save money.
