Yep! All they do is nurse, sleep, nurse, sleep. Sounds like all is well :).

Alright. I was just worried - they cried so much last night and now they're silent! Mom and I just checked on them a little while ago and they were fine, but quiet.

They were just getting settled in. Learning to nurse. Mama kitty has colostrum the first day or two. Have you seen the kittens nursing at mama? Does it look like her milk is starting to come in?

If they were hungry today they would be crying all the time. :)

Ah good!! Yes, they nurse and mama puts her arm over them and purrs and purrs and purrs. She's very happy. When she went downstairs she came right back up when she heard the box slide over so mum could check on the kittens (currently mom is the only one who has touched them, we're gonna keep it that way because Princess is most attached to mom and trusts her the most.)

Mom just let us kids look at them - little white bab was nursing away down at the bottom, and black (possibly dark tabby?) bab was up wiggling around getting a bath.

I keep getting worried and then I realize - cats did this for years without us checking on them. She and they will be okay. We've been mixing KMR with her food and BD n Bean are happy.

You are absolutely right, so try to relax and let mama kitty do her job! :)

The issue with our cave is that mom doesn't want to shut herself off from everyone by closing her bedroom door, but Princess can't leave her cave if she keeps it open and I know mama is gonna want to stretch her legs! Any advice?

Can you just put Princess' food, water, and litter in the room with her for now? Would that solve the problem?

Explain to mom that Princess probably doesn't want the other animals around for the first few weeks.  She will be very protective of her kittens and will hiss at the others.

Do you have any light Karo syrup, it's used in baking or some liquid honey.  If so smear a tiny bit on the kittens gums or lips.  You can try to give it some sugar water but it will not work as quickly.  See if you can get her to eat after giving the sugar.

Just put the honey on the gums of the kitten that is not doing well. Hopefully that will perk it up. You can also put honey on the mom cat's nipple and put the kitten against it to try to get it to feed from her. Make sure the kitten is warm. If it is cold, it won't be able to eat or digest food.

Which baby isn't eating? The white one or the black one?

Try to stay calm. Put the honey on the baby's lips and on the mama cat's nipples and put the baby to her and see if the baby will latch.

If not, you must feed the baby KMR from a 1-2 mL syringe, drop by drop, tummy down, head up, in the side of the mouth only. Let it swallow, breathe, and go again.

I believe you have the KMR already?

Let us know how it's going.

As said, keep the kitten warm.  The weak and sick must be warmed up actively, its not enough with wrapping them up.   Carrying at the chest is effective. MASSAGE it up!   Being with their cat mom is of course effective too...

Kmr with the syringe as said above.  Its easier so for the weak ones.

You can also try with some drops of pedialyte, bought or home made...  IF she by some reason is gone dehydrated, she loses forces by it...

Pedialyte is useful in many situations, not only diarrhea.  If you take in a weak kitten to the vets, the first they often do is to inject some fluids under the skin = apparently a weak kitten is often dehydrated.

Some proposals follows here:

Pedialyte, continuation.  Exactly which you give, depends on what you do have at hand.    Ask your neigbours for help, if the shops are closed!!!

If bought, the best is some unflavored baby version.   But if flavored are the only one at hand, you can use them to begin with.

Of homemade,  do you have mineral salt and glucose sugar = dextrose?  These salt respective sugar source are the best

If  you havent,  common kitchen sugar, and white caro syrup, or even honey, are OK.    Even common white sugar works, but much slower.

One basic receipt, is

1 litre water.   1,5 tea spoons salt  1,5-2 soup spoons  sugar source...  A little baking soda= bikarbonat, if you have.   Boil up, let it be room temp again. Use.   Dont spare too long.

Another is,   take some rice,  boil it too long, more than in a food recipe.

Use the water, add some salt.

My favorite at this moment, is you take a bottle of a good minerale water.  They contain lotsa of different, good salts and electrolytes.

You let the gas out, and add some sugar source, about half soup spoon  in a 33 ml bottle.   Be sure the sugar gets  diluted in there as it shall.

And voilá, you do have an excellent home made pedialyte...

ps.  Make sure the pedialyte you give, is body warm.
