A small can of wet food a day is usually recommended to help give water to the cat. It can help prevent kidney and UTI issues

Yes, it's a good idea to give your cat wet food.  Many people feed both wet and dry, many feed all wet, and many feed only dry.  Another argument against feeding only dry (other than the UTI and kidney issues) is that there are so darned many recalls in food, and when they happen, they are mainly on dry food.  And since switching from one dry food to a different one overnight is bad for a cat's digestive tract, you could have a problem.  But many people also believe that dry food simply isn't good for cats.
