i really need a help regarding my cat..she first time undergo motherhood and experienced first delivery almost 42 hours ago. she gave birth to 3 babies on Saturday night after 12 am. two of her babies died and i dont know the cause. thats my first experience to have a cat and seriously have no idea about cats pregnancy and delivery. I dont have any vet in my hometown thats other major issue. yesterday she was so clingy and showing affection after delivery that the whole day she want me to it near her nesting place. she stay in my lap to make it sure that i was with her. she moves from my lap to her new born to feed him and to care him but then if she saw me moving she run to me. The whole day she hardly slept for about 2 hours. The other major sign she showed was loud vocalization. but as soon as she is in my lap she stop meowing.  the day she was expecting delivery she was restless and was showing extra affection. Now what i am facing is that she isnt showing the same affection rather staying in her nesting place with her new born. she is sleeping whole day and isnt willing to come out of her nest. their is light bleeding from her vag! she is not having temperature. is it okay if she has light bleeding and is resting all day in her nest? i am worried

while Im thinking, how is the kitten doing now? does she take care?  Were the kittens fully done, furry and decently rounded, or were they hairless and thin?

How much is the bleeding, its real blood or sooner discharge with some traces of red in it?   discharge is common, real blood not good...

what country are you in?   Knowing what country, its easier to know what you can get in the shops, if necessary.

OK.  If she is in the nest and taking care of the baby, although sleeping, that is OK.  She is surely tired.  And her maternal instincts had kicked in, so she doesnt need you the same as the first day.  Still be near, so she knows she does has your support.

Some red colored discharges are common.  As long as it isnt real blood, more than some very few small drops, its normal.

BUT, if se doenst take care of the little one, and just sleeps, its alarming.  YOU must take care of the little one, if you want to save him, AND ists quite probable there is some problem with her...

Does she seem to be done with the pregnancy?   Sometimes they deliver some kittens, especielly if they are a little premature, and pauses a couple three days and deliver the last, fully done, several days later...

Had you tried to feel on her tummy? how does it feels?   I know its not easy for someone inexperienced...

You have perhaps some neigbour whom is more experienced with pregnant cats, or even - pregnant dogs or rabbits??

Anyway, Im waiting wit writing more till you have answered.

I will go out in 15 minutes, back later in the evening.

Cats are nigtlhy creatures, so as long she isnt lethargic the whole day and night, ist normal to be more active in night, and sleep more in day.

As long she takes care of the kitten in the day, you dont need to change anything.

Later on, when the kitten is weaned, you can work with that, but its an later question, to try and change her habits.

OK, as long as she takes care of the kitten, and it seems to suck etc, its good.

Do you have a possibility to get a scale measuring in grammes or hundreds of OZ?   So you can weight the kitten every day, at the same time, and see if he gains. He shall gain at least 6gram every day, as he is quite little.  A bigger kitten shall gain about 10 gram every day.

If he gain less, you shall give him extra.   If so, use a needleless syringe or a dropper.  Tummy down, head up, in the corner of the mouth, cautiously so he manages to swallow.  Burp him like a baby afterwards.

What to give.  In Pakistan, I suppose you can get Raw goat milk?   This is excellent, both for kittens and for humans.  Bottled pasteurized goat milk is OK too, but not so splendid.

There are also kitten mothermilk replacements,  kmr.   I dont know what brands you have in Pakistan, so I wait with these recommendations.

That hard you feel is probably her uterus, which is swollen somewhat after the birth.  Which is fully natural.

I think its as it shall for the moment, but continue to keep watch on the kitten, be sure he is OK, and gains.

He is probably a little premature, but not very much.  And with mom sand your help, and if God so will, he shall manage.    Insha´Allah,  right?

ps.  These two kittens whom died.  How did they look? even less hair than he whom is still alive?

We can already see shehe will be a copy of mom.  The slender shape is already there.  Perhaps sligthly premature, not much hairs on the paws, but much of the slender posture is because of moms slender posture, I  want to think.

Oh! She is just precious! As Stefan said, mom's mini-me! I hope you keep her! Is she nursing well from mom? Is mom spending time with her? I understand the not sleeping with worry over your cat; I do the same! It seems the bond is particularly strong with our rescue cats - and I've only ever had rescues! :)

Glad to hear all is well. What do the rescues like to eat? Are they accustomed to people food from scavenging? And will you have mama kitty spayed in a few weeks so no more pregnancies? :)
