So, I posted earlier about the four kittens that I have. They will all be turning five weeks old tomorrow. We are only keeping one of the litter. I have homes lined up for the other ones. I was having a difficult time getting them to eat their hard food, Purina Kitten Chow I think it's called. Well, I bought a whole bunch of canned food, Friskas I think. Well, three of the kittens like the wet but the one we are keeping seems to prefer the dry! Is this normal?

Also, the one we are keeping started out being the largest of the litter but now he is the smallest. He is also the explorer of the group and doesn't nurse from mommy as much as the other ones do. Normal?

Canned food is a lot healtier for cats
You can read these for more info on why:

5 week old kittens are a bit young to eat dry food, even kitten dry food. Canned food is a lot easier to eat for little mouths. But feed both types if you want. It's good for kittens to be exposed to different types of food: dry, canned, even raw. Older dry food addict cats are usuually harder to transition to canned food if a medical condition arises that only canned food can help with (along with other treatment the vet prescribes), such as diabetes or urinary issues.

Have you tried other brands of canned food? Kittens can be picky
Fancy Feast has a few kitten formulas you could try. Wellness is another brand that has a kitten formula.

Your little explorer sounds just fine to me
He might just not be needing to nurse from mom now that regular cat food is available.

:) Glad he is doing well. I think the other three are just more fluffy then he is. He is probably gonna take a bit after mommy but maybe less fluffy? He still nurses, just not as often as the other three. They ate canned food three times yesterday, Oreo included, and Oreo ate a bit of the dry food. He didn't eat much of it.
