klove8, bless you for coming here for advice.  That was very smart of you.  Now I just wish you would follow our advice and have both of your cats spayed and neutered.

You say that you're willing to spay your little female because you're aware that she might get out and become pregnant.  Good girl.  What will happen if he gets out?  What if he gets in a fight?  What if he's not the stronger Tom?  What if he gets a disease from a female he mates with?  What if he gets hit by a car lusting after a female?

There is simply no excuse for not spaying and neutering your cats.

That little kitten of yours is just the cutest!  She's depending on you to do the right thing.

The tom belongs to her boyfriend and she said it is his decision and he does not wish to neuter his cat. Therefore, all she can do is protect the kitten and spay her when she is of age and hope the tom cat leaves her alone.

And the kitten is better off with our poster than living as a stray.

Thank you for understanding what Im trying to say. I'm not trying to make my male come off like a sex driven crazy cat. He's very good to her he won't ever hurt her only that one time and nomatter how much people think Im doing the wrong thing I'm trying to make it work.

We are a pro-spay/neuter forum, due to the vast numbers of feral, stray and homeless cats in the world, but we are also here to support you with your new kitten. We want you to feel comfortable discussing whatever issues you are facing with your cats. :)

We understand that, but when your kitten does come into heat, then you may have a really difficult time. Try and get her spayed before that happens and it will at least lessen the chances of him hurting her. He will not want to hurt her, but toms can't help themselves when their hormones are raging and they are presented with an available female of whatever age. Talk to your vet and see if he will do a paediatric spay, before her first heat. Otherwise you may have an even more difficult decision, whether to spay/abort her kittens when she is only 4 or 5 months old. That would be like a 10 year old girl getting pregnant and could really damage her health or even kill her. I know none of this is easy for you, but you do need to be aware of what could happen and work to prevent it. We are here for you, but we will be honest in our opinions.

This is my first post so not so sure how this works. I found a 3 week old kitten abandoned at the laundry mat so I took her home and named her cruella.  Now my problem is I have a 3 year old male named donut who has never been around another cat his whole life, he only knows my boy dog joc. I don't know how to raise kittens my boyfriend raised donut before I ever dated him, but im doing my best and for her age she's very independent she knows to use the litter box, she can eat without a bottle ( she makes a mess but she can do it) so I wasn't very concerned because donut just avoided her and joc took over the parent role. however now donut has taken interest in her, he plays and cleans her, try's to show her how to bury her poop, etc.. he's  obsessed with being around her 24/7 he gets really upset when she gets put in the cage. starting yesterday he has been pinning her down by the back of the neck and holding her down like that but I think it hurts her because she starts screaming and it seems like he has her gripped to tight. so I smack my hands together and he knows that means he's in trouble so he'll run but I don't know if that's normal? also I know its a mating thing but wouldn't he know she's to young? I separate them every few hours and at night but I think its getting out of control and im not sure what to do anymore.
He may be teaching her who's alpha. Him. When he holds her down does he bite or wash her?
