I don't even know what to do anymore! I'm aware cats aren't like dogs and do their own thing but I've never had a situation like this. I rescued a cat who they said was a stray and about 2 years old so he has been with people since April 17th. So a little over a month. He jumps on the counters which my parents don't approve of, I have tried placing cookie sheets, double sided tape, tin foil, all to no avail, I've sprayed him with a water bottle but he tends to get mad at me then and I hate that. But that's not even the worst problem he will eat ANYTHING. He has gotten into hamburger rolls, bagels, the wrapper the boxes whatever seems to be in the way is no obstacle for him I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself . I just made this post because I heard him in the kitchen while I was trying to sleep and he was eating kitchen grease. He's such a good cat but how can I break these stray behaviors? Even at the vet he wanted the dog treats she had and ate them like crazy. I feed him 1/3 cup in the morning and then slightly less than a 1/4 at 3 pm and another 1/3 at dinner time. He was healthy at the vet and I don't want to over feed him and as far as I know I am already. They said it might take time for him to get used to a constant meal but I've had him 3 weeks now. Any advice would be appreciated :(

Is he getting dry food only?  If yes, i would suggest a couple wet food meals a day plus some dry and see if that helps.  Also, if you have to go for a cat repellent, the best on the market is below, it has a motion sensor and a whistle.  First if rings the whistle, then it squirts compressed air, and once trained you can turn it to whistle only.  But the first thing I might try is wet food and more of it, i agree you don't want him to get overweight, but he might have been starving when he was a stray and now wants more food.
