Unfortunately, I stepped pretty hard on my cats right front paw today. I was in the kitchen and I took a step back and my heel came down on her paw. She squealed very loudly (worst I have ever heard) and immediately ran downstairs. She was lifting her paw and shaking it for a few seconds. I followed after her and she immediately came up to me and rubbed her head against me and let me pick her back up. She seems to be doing fine. She ate all of her dinner, was playing with all of her toys, and is currently looking out a window at some deer! Nothing seems out of the ordinary right now. Is there anything I should look for to make sure she is okay? Obviously an xray would be the best thing but unfortunately, I'm visiting family and forgot all her paperwork, so I'm not sure if I can take her to a vet near my family or not.

Thanks!

I have unfortunately done the same thing and accidentally stepped on my cat's paws occasionally (they like to hang out in the kitchen when I'm cooking, but I don't like taking my eyes off of the stove so accidents can happen). It is a good idea to monitor your cat's behavior for the next few days and try putting some pressure on the area to see if there is any negative response. It is likely that your cat is alright, but ensure that your cat has normal behavior and is not in pain. If there is any sign of distress, or you notice that you cat is acting strangely or treating their paw different in any way, then it is a good idea to go to the vet and have them checked.

She is putting weight on it and not limping. She's using it to clean her face, and has even supported her entire upper body weight on it while she used her left paw to swipe at a toy. She isn't a fan of me touching either of her paws, which she never has been.
