The president of the Humane Society that I volunteer at shared a wonderful letter with me the other day.
It was from a young child, probably 6 years old. She wrote it herself, and in typical handwriting style of a child that young - misspelled words and backwards letters (visualize this in your mind).
In her letter, she wrote that she was so happy with the cat she adopted from them earlier that year, and she wanted to donate her allowance money to help other cats at the shelter. There were 2 crumbled dollar bills in the envelope with the letter.
I was so touched by this gesture that I cried. I am a firm believer that our future is in the hands of children, and this gave me hope for that future.
