Human kitty is preggers! She is around two months and I have done extensive research on what to expect. But as she is my first cat Im very worried for her. Today she had a bloody discharge and was very fidgety and clingy. I was sure kittens were coming. Then she laid down after dinner and is napping. Is this normal should I be concerned? If it is normal does it indicate that she will have babies soon?

Difficult to know.   Some precontractions, and some red colored discharge is common.  You dont want real blood, at least, not more than just a few small drops. But bloody discharges are more or less common yes.

She may even had began the labor, but has a pause.

If she is as usual, no problems, you can wait and see.  Do observe, as this is touchy - she may get complications or become sick for real although she is high preg!

But as long as she seems OK, business as usual, etc, you dont need to panic.

What we dont like is long, fruitless active labor...  Or other apparent comlications.  In such cases contact your vet asap, and be ready to rush in.

You had done extensive reading, good, but Im sending our links anyway.

Good luck!

It was not straight blood, but more a think gloppy blood colored stuff. She is up and licking again and aside from being giant, uncomfortable, and very pregnant she seems normal. I mean at no point has sge seemed in pain or upset.

Please anyone help. Human had two kittens this morning. She seemed fine @930 when I left. Got a call at 1130 from my partner she had two kittens both dead left in sac in different spots on my living room floor. She is looking for them and doesn't seem to be having contractions but I don't know what to do she seems ok health wise sad maybe. She keeps going to the spot and smelling and looking all around the area for them. Now she's just laying here purring and I'm confused. I felt other kittens move in her (I'm not a vet so not 100%) but I'm worried as can be and I don't know what I can do to help her. She won't eat she drank. The kittens had placenta attatched and my bf said that one really didn't look normal. It was completely bald so now I'm freaking out.

I am sorry this has happened, it must be really distressing and worrying.  It could be that she delivered these kittens too early and they were not ready to survive.  That could explain why they looked different and one of them didn't have fur.  I don't have experience though and hope others who do see your post soon.   Have you tried calling your vet at all to ask them about the kittens, and check whether your momma cat should see them for a check over?

Called the vet. She says HUMAN is probably going through delayed labor because no one was home with her. She believes the kittens died because human didn't know what to do and was overly stressed. The other babies are strong and kicking away in her tummy. HUMAN is resting on my lap and freaks out when I try to get up. So I am staying here for now. Anybody know how to properly handle a new born if HUMAN doesn't help like she did on first two?

The articles mentioned above, Help! My Cat is Having Kittens,

Premature Kittens

and
Post-Birth Complications in Cats

should give you all the information you need right now.

Short & sweet, have dry washcloths around, they are the best thing to grasp a slippery newborn kitten with.  Hopefully she will lick immediately and get the sac open right away and eat the placenta, which will crush the cord and it will not bleed.  If she doesn't open the sac right away, go ahead and open it yourself and wipe the baby's face with a dry washcloth so it can breathe.  Then give her a few minutes to see if her instincts kick in and she eats the placenta, thus cutting the cord.  If not, or if she has two very fast and only has time to work on one, then you need to do it for her.  The article explains how to tie the cor, I think, or you can crush it with a hemostat if you have one handy and then cut it on the placenta side of the hemostat.  Let us know how this comes out.  I hope you end up with a few lively kittens.  If she should lose them, you might consider offering to take on some orphans for a rescue group and let her raise them.  We have had a lot of success with that practice!  The mama's hormones after birth make her a great candidate for raising little orphan kittens -- or even dcks and chicks and puppies on occasion!

Didn't your vet give you some KMR, a syringe and bottle?  You need to feed the baby and keep it warm!  Your poor kitty has been through quite a lot in last few hours! So she is probably exhausted and traumatized from all that has happened. As others have said, many vets are not well trained in NB kittens. If you haven't already gotten some provisions for the kitten, Please have someone go to the pet store or Walmart to get the KMR,bottle, and a syringe from the pharmacy dept. You may need some Karo syrup to get kittens glucose going, just on the lips, it will absorb, don't need to feed it the syrup, but there are homemade recipes that have included it. How long have you been back home with kitten? They need to eat every 2 hours!

The vet gave us a bottle and milk with no instructions. Taco (the kitten) tried to suckle the bottle but he wasn't strong enough for it. The nipple is too big for his mouth. My neighbors cat had kittens today as well and we decided to put Taco with them to see if she would feed him since Human was still not interstellar in being near him. She would move every time I brought him to her just got up walked to a new spot and left the cat. Anyway the neighbors cat was more than happy to let Taco in with hers and immediately started cleaning him and he began nursing within 15min of joint her litter. We are leaving him there for the night so hopefully he can snuggle with the others and stay warm and we'll fed. We will try again with human tomorrow if she's feeling up to it. If not I want to leave him with the other Mamma kitty instead of bottle feed that way he gets a better shot at life. He has already been through so much and I'm really hoping he makes it through the next few days.

Im very sorry I didnt saw this tread earlier...  What is done is done, I must carry my burden now..

Yes, you must take full charge for the kitten.

With weak kittens, using a littly needleless syringe of 1 or 1,5 ml is easier.  Tummy down, head up, in the corner of the mouth, cautiously and slowly...  Burp afterwards to be on the safe side.   And stimule afterwards too, to eliminate...

I will continue now to write, renew the pic! now and then!

OK, I see it seems you found a good solution with the neigborhood momma cats.  Its surely best so...

Still, him being probably slightly premature, he isnt out of the woods completely...  Be observant on him, together with this neigbour, and be ready to step in and give him some extras if necessary...

How many are they in te foster litter?

Continue to report and ask...

Wait, you mean, you and te vet are pretty sure they were already dead inside Human?  And that is why the cesarean was done?

Phew, if so, my burden of quilt is much lesser - it WAS necessary to take them out, asap.

Five were already passed away on the ultrasound. Two were alive, two already had been born dead the day before. Taco lived. The other live one died in surgery. My neighbor stayed up all night with him to make sure Mamma was taking to him he is great. Meowing squirming and fighting for a nip. The litter he is in had 4 kittens.

Best to leave him with the neighbor's cat until Human recovers enough to even try nursing. With a c-section there is pain and your cat did not want to nurse because she was weak, sore and exhausted.

It would be nice if Human would eventually take to her baby, but she may not. Even if she does, Taco may need play dates with the neighbor's kittens as he gets older for socialization.

So sorry you and Human had to go through this. I'm glad your kitty and Taco made it through. What luck to have a neighbor nursing newborns too!

Brought taco back this afternoon to see if Human would nurse now that she's feeling better. He meowed once and she scooped him up and took him under my bed. There we found another kitten who didn't make it but she had clearly tried on that one it was out of the sac the placenta was gone and the cord chewed off. It was sad, but on a better note it showed she was interested in caring for taco. He is very active as small as he is and keeps wandering away from her. I tried to move her and him to a box but she wasn't having it she went right back to that spot again. So we rearrange the room and pulled the bed out to make a better enclosed nest around her instead. Now they are both warm, happy, and safe. Human keeps meowing until I come pet her and Taco has finally mastered latching. I am so grateful that they are doing so well. Praying he continues being a fighter and pulls through another night. With every hour I feel slightly more secure that he will live. Thank you everyone for the support and advice. I am so new to all this. Human was my first cat and taco was the first and only litter so this is all very new and scary territory for us.

Wow!  You, Human and little Taco have been on a crazy roller coaster!  How fortunate that you have that neighbor! I really wonder if Human would have been up to nursing last night with all the trauma she went through. I feel so sorry about her trying to nurture the little one under the bed...so glad Taco is there for her to love! Best thoughts to your little family!

Ok so couple questions human isn't licking taco like she should so we are stimulating him to potty. He hasn't pooped yet but he tinkles regularly. Is this a concern should he be doing both or no? If he's going tinkle that means he is in fact nursing right?

I think you are wise to keep an eye on that! 50 years ago, when we had a 1 week old orphaned litter, we didn't know any better, and lost 2 because they were not be stimulated. So until she gets her groove on, you are wise to keep an eye out. You do know that the poops are kind of mushy, because they aren't eating solids just yet, so Human may be cleaning more than you might observe. But an ounce of prevention is worth a.  .And yes, that is good that Taco is peeing! That means his little plumbing is working, and he is getting nutrients.
