For those of you who don't know or remember, this is Charlie. I adopted him about a month ago and he had a nasty case of a clanici virus/stomatitis. With inflamed gums and a brown, drooly mouth, he was not a happy boy.

He has adjusted very well (as he sits comfortably on my entertainment center) and loves to play with my 3 year old Maine Coon, Einstein.

Wow, he is gorgeous!!! He has the same coloring as my Simba, but I'm afraid Simba may never get that pretty - he was in awfully bad shape when we found him.

He sure looks healthy - has his clanici virus/stomatitis completely cleared up? (I'm not even sure exactly what that is...)

Thank you both so much! Yes, Charlie's sickness has cleared up with the help of the antibiotic, clinamycin. The calici virus is a respiratory virus that cats are vaccinated against when they get their distempers. Charlie recieved his distemper too late by the adoption agency...he was already sick.

He had this gross brown goo hanging from his mouth and his breath was RANCID. With a lot of love and help from the vet, Charlie is tip top shape. He also loves the Innova wet and dry food that I put him on. Charlie was kept in a closet for the first two years of his life until a neighbor found out and called animal control on the owners. He was in a shelter for 3 months...and he was the next one on death row.

He is an absolute doll and has been nothing but fun since I adopted him...couldn't have made a better decision.

Thanks everyone!

Here is Charlie, the day I brought him home. If you look closely, you can see the brow "goop" hanging from his lips. Poor dear...it took a few weeks to clear up.

Awh, thank you guys so much! Can you believe that before I met my boyfriend, I didn't like cats at all? After living with Einstein, I realized that I really loved cats...as well as other animals. I have a black bear hamster...a guinea pig...and few frogs and fishies too.
