My cat has a watery eye and a runny nose, he doesn't sneeze often, but the vet told me it is herpes. I had been giving him 1,000mg if lysine a day because my vet recommended it. After a month it gave him diarrhea. I cut him off for a few days and gave him a much smaller dose and he still got diarrhea the day I gave it to him again. I haven't given it to him in a while and feel awful because his eye is getting worse. Is there anything else I can do to help him? I wipe his nose and eye with clean warm cloths often to help with irritation but I know that doesn't solve it. I need help his herpes just isn't getting any better. He's been broke out for months.

What the brand? I would give him 100mg for few days and see how that goes, if no diarrhea bump it up to 100mg twice a day and keep working it up until it cause diarrhea or until 1000mg

The Now brand is just pure lysine
Albus and Luna were just diagnosed with herpes a couple weeks ago. They're just having intermittent sneezing fits (for a day or two every few weeks) and water eyes occasionally. This NOW brand powder is the stuff I got- since it's pure, how much should I use? Still 100mg to start and work up to 250mg-500mg for a maintenance amount, and up to 1000mg if they're having an outbreak?
