Shenandoah will be 15 in April.  He used to weigh 14 lbs, but in the past year or so, he has lost down to 10 lbs.  Otherwise, he is  pretty healthy.  Is it normal for cats to eat less as they age?  Last year at this time, I had to have Humble, his brother, put to sleep.  I am so concerned for Shenandoah.  I want to keep him as long as I can.

Thanks for your input.

Firstly, I'd want to be sure his teeth are ok, and maybe have a general check up so you know there's nothing more sinister going on.

Secondly, in the title of this thread you say he's more finicky. My 13 year old boy (who also lost his brother a year ago) has become unbelievably picky about food. I think it's because he can  No truth in the rumour that he's spoilt rotten! ;) It can take two or three different offerings before Shadow will deign to eat....especially if he's not really hungry (ie 1st breakfast or after a missed meal).

So long as everything else checks out I wouldn't worry overmuch, but I strongly advise that you get him checked over first. Weight loss/lack of appetite is often a sign of problems do I would have a vet look at him just in case.

Oh, thank you!  I have done all that, and he is going back in May for another Wellness exam.  You are so kind to reply, and I really appreciate it.  Bless you~  Bobbie
