I have met a couple of bengal breeders and am wondering if it's healthy and better to separate the mother away from the kittens around 7 to 8 weeks old? The breeders told me because the milk is now sour or could do more harm to the Bengal kittens.
Is this wrong? Is it right? I feel it is way too early to seperate. But maybe I am wrong. I am no expert.

I thought kittens needed to stay with their mother until at least 12 weeks because she still needs to teach them how to socialize and use the litter, have good manners, etc.

I would love some thoughts or opinions on this...please...
Thank You!

I'm not an expert on Bengal cats but I highly doubt any kitten, domestic or wild, should be separated from the mother that early. It's not just a question of nursing. There's social learning which needs to be accomplished too.

I see..that's a bit upsetting...I did find out as to why these few breeders actually did seperate the mother from her kittens. They were pregnant and soon to be due in a month again. I highly doubt this is healthy for the kittens and queen..Saddening really..

Right. Also, they said the milk is sour.   Nay, first time I heard about this.  Sounds as either bad excuse, or at best, sheer ignorance.

Also, that tight pregnancies is not sound and no serious association accepts that.   Serious breeders have typically one litter a year. Or three in two years, not more.  At least, in the big european association Fife.

The only possible exception may be, it fthe litter is very small, 1-2 kittens, and the mom is in excellent condition.

I suspect strongly this "breeder" is a typical BYB breeder.  Beware!
