Ok so I have a 20 week old kitten Pip which thank god the older cats have finally adjusted to having a little one and we have a nice balance now and very little hissing :) only took 2 months :) but since adopting Pip from the pound she has had this funny habit of laying down to urinate not only that but if she sits up she urinates on her feet. He back feet are stained yellow and I find myself having to bathe them regularly as they smell. She's never not used the litter box which is great but I don't like her laying in the litter box so I usually pick her up to move her which is how I worked out she urinates while laying down. She also plays with her poop thats not as often as the urinating on her feet though so I'm not that concerned about that.
She also had this strange habit of laying in the bathroom which is where we originally bought her home from the pound to so I'm wondering if that's like a safety thing but no matter what she will always lay in this one corner in the bathroom. She has plenty of beds, trees and blankets but will sleep on tile.
Any help is awesome or advise or brainstorming :) anything is great :)

I can't help you with the lying down to pee thing, I'm afraid.

But I do have a thought about the bathroom. Is it warmer in there? Assuming you have central air - many bathrooms have a vent or two all to themselves, which makes them warmer than the rest of the house.  Sinbad likes to sleep in the bathroom when the heat is on. He has one corner that he stretches out in and enjoys the benefits of a tiny room with a dedicated vent.

Cats have a higher body temperature than humans do, so they like to find warm places because we tend to keep our houses at temperatures in the range where they have to expend energy to stay warm.

You might check to see if her stream of urine is coming from where it is supposed to be coming from. It's rare, but her urethra might be blocked or leaves her body in the wrong place. Most females squat to urinate, she sits? I would definitely have a vet check her backside out to see if everything is normal.  It's definitely not normal for her to be soiling her feet. It may be something that can be repaired with minor surgery. Good luck and post us if you find out what is wrong!

She's urinating from the correct spot from what I can tell and she will occasionally squat to urinate and squats to poo all the time.
And nope we don't have ducted heating (also I live in australia which means it's summer at the moment) also the tiles aren't overly cool either so it may be a security thing but it worries me because it's the sort of behaviour I don't want my cats to display as she's one of 3 which can be over whelming but she has 2 rooms to herself and shares 2 areas with the other and all 3 share 3 areas so I don't think she should be displaying this anxiety still maybe I'm just expecting too much too soon as it has only been 2 months.

One of my cats posture in a laying down position on occasion. He was diagnosed with sterile cystitis/FLUTD and I have been able to link this posturing to flare-ups more often than not. Not sure if Pip might have the same issue or not.
