On Monday, my two kittens(unrelated) were fine- playing and eating! We went to bed around 11pm and everyone was fine. When we got up in the morning, our boy kitten was on the couch sleeping(which he never does) and the other was playing with our older cat. The boy kitten spent the entire day sleeping and wouldn't get up. If we put him on the floor he would just sit. If he walked it looked off. We thought he was coming down with a cold but by evening(last night) he didn't get any additional symptoms. We began to think he might have hurt himself during the night playing. There are no visible injuries and no obviously broken bones tho so we began to fear that it might be an internal injury. We decided to take him to the vet as soon as they opened.

This morning we woke up and he appeared to be *slightly* better. He is willing to eat some wet cat food but not water. I am giving him water with vitamins from a syringe to prevent dehydration. He is peeing and I'm watching to see what his poop looks like. He will sit and and purr happily but will only walk a foot or two.

As of 8am our other kitten is showing the same symptoms!!! We now think this is something viral. Unfortunately, I can't take them to the vet as planned b/c we only have one car and my husband got called into work early. I am not sure what a vet can do for something that is viral except to make sure they don't get dehydrated or lose too much weight. I know they can run some tests to see what type of illness it is. But I'm guessing we are just going to have to let it run it's course. They will be going to the vet this afternoon when my husband gets home with the car.

Has anyone experienced this with their kittens?

Yes, get to the vet. Have you changed their food recently? And this sounds odd but is your furnace ok? I had a kitten with these symptoms once and it was the furnace, the carbon monoxide was high. Fixed before we got sick tg.
