I know I have asked questions like this a few times but I am still struggling with it. I feed River who is a female 10 month old russian blue that weights 8.5 pounds 1 nugget of primal freeze-dried raw that I rehydrate at feeding time once a day. That is about 42 calories. I also feed her 1 oz of canned tiki cat twice a day that I also add water to, for 2 oz. total of tiki cat daily. I am unsure of the calorie count in tiki cat so if anyone knows, that would be great. I also give her 2 Tbs (1/8 cup) of dry Orijen at night. I am not sure of the calorie count on that either. I know she should be getting about 170ish calories a day, does it sound like I am feeding the right amount?

The calorie content for Tiki Cat and other brands of canned foods are listed here: http://catinfo.org/docs/FoodChartPublic9-22-12.pdf

42 calories plus 80-ish for the canned plus 29-ish  calories for the dry (500 kcal per cup) is about 151 calories. It's a little low. Can you feed a little more canned food or freeze dried Primal? Does your cat seem hungry in between meals? How is her overal body condition? Is she emaciated? Ribs easily felt but not visible?

Actually, apparently my significant other has also been giving her 1/8 of a cup overnight as well. So 1/4 cup of dry Orijen over night total. And she eats the succulent chicken most often of the tiki cat. Her body condition looks good to me, you can't feel her ribs or anything like that. But I still think she acts a little hungry between meals.

You can feel them if you rub a little on her sides, however they are not very defined feeling I guess is what I would say. Should I be feeding her less than what she is getting now? Less? She sometimes acts a bit hungry between meals and I don't want her to be hungry but I also don't want to over feed her so it's been hard to figure out what is right.

Her body condition sounds fine. I can feel my cats' ribs by rubbing their sides lightly. I think your cat is getting enough food. You could add a little more food if you want.
