She's very close now! My girls temp was 100F earlier, it's been 100.4, it just dropped for the first time about an hour ago. I hope it's soon!!!

So sweet. I don't know about Russian blues. Why does she have a tabby kitten and a black kitten? Can this happen with two purebred Russians?

I believe she had mated with a domestic cat an not my purebred male. But I hope they can't make black an tabby cats if they are pure bred but I do believe that if both the parents are blue all of the kittens should be blue from what I've been told.

Yeah, i saw one of them seemed to be tabby, but didnt dared to ask.  It was also too early, as there was much impressions and pressure for you.

What an irony, here you go out a long way and making big pains  to get a litter of purebred russians, but you get  adorable, but clearly moggies...   Had she any chance to sneak out, or you got a visit by a fertile moggie tom??

Im thinking if they could have themselves these genes.

To be black is no big business.  Blue is a diluted black, so it can probably happen, although rare.  Ah, I even know a couple of examples of practically black RB, even officially presented as  RB.   One on a poststamp, and one in a book by a renown swedish pedigree cat expert.

But tabby is another matter.  Tabby is dominant, so it should show even if singled.    A carrier gets himself tabby, simply.  The carrier can get somenkittens who arent tabbies, if the other gene in the pair isnt tabby.

Still, I wonder if there is a possibility they had unsure genes, and it was why they were sold as pet quality cats, although they are healthy and do have nice RB looks.

This analysis and speculations depends of course, if you KNOW there was another tom  thereabout, or if you are pretty sure there couldnt.

If there were no connection with outside toms, we can ask our color hereditary experts, for example Bianca.

ps.  Re the dad.  OK, the biological dad is unknown at this moment.  but the familys male member, your supposed stud.  How is he taking it?

O yay finally!! Congratulations!! :D I hope they'll grow up healthy and happily! =^^=

As for your previous post. It does seem indeed that these aren't purebred Russian Blues. As far as I know, russian blues are non-tabby and blue. You have one black kitten and one blue(?) tabby. Black means you had a cat on her that wasn't blue (Probably a black - surely a black if you have girls in this litter as well) and that was tabby. So if you have any black tabbies walking around outside, I would say he's the father. It's not possible for 2 blue non-tabby cats to give non-diluted (so black) or tabby kittens. That's genetically impossible.

This doesn't make them less cute tho <3 But I can understand if you are a bit bummed about it. Specially if you have a whole breeder plan set up for Russian Blues. Don't be shy to keep us updated on their progress, would love to see these little ones grow! ^^
